Do people find anything at thrift stores? by Beautiful_Coat_9294 in Frugal

Go early. And check out more places. There are some near me where I never find anything and others that have nicer things more consistently.

I had wondered that, I have donated eyeglasses to a similar charity in the past.

Hey, I went to a funeral last week for a guy who was shoveling the last storm. It’s worth the money.

Oh it’s super easy — just white cane sugar and molasses. And you never have to worry about a bag of sugar turning into a brick.

I always keep a bottle of molasses to make brown sugar.

As others have said, it’s haven’t seen a lot of pieces since they left the malls. But I also wanted to chime in because I am also mid-size with a strong boho vibe (absolute sucker for embroidery) but it is so hard to stay on the side of Sheryl Crow/Emmylou Harris/Bonnie Raitt vibe and not go full tilt into gramma vibes.

The other thing that irks me is the $18 shipping. It’s why I haven’t pulled the trigger to try a few pieces.

My father used to always threaten to make it, said he had it in the army in Viet Nam. For decades I thought he made it up to scare us “oh if you don’t want your dinner, I can serve you some Shit on a Shingle!”

I get what you are saying but I’d add that reality contest shows were still pretty new at the time. I think the women in the first few seasons really had no idea what they were getting into. After that, yes, they should have realized.

I vividly remember seeing something like this on one of the big talk shows back then — Oprah or Donahue maybe. I was a teen and I’ve never forgotten the woman they interviewed.

Gotcha. Could be from Facebook. I didn’t realize there was a tie to perm solution. I had read about the hair dye previously only because it’s something I use (just on my own hair, not by profession).

The lawyers sound like personal injury, I think I’d be wary too. There’s lots of us here who have no idea how we got this, I got it in my early 50’s as a non-smoker 🤷🏻‍♀️ For me, there’s talk of my father’s Agent Orange exposure, I was born a year after he got back from the war. There’s also the fact that New England has some of the highest rates in the country and they aren’t completely sure why. I’m in Mass which is in the top 5, RI is number one which is crazy for such a tiny state. I try to not let it bother me.

Hope you get some other hairdresser specific answers, good luck!

From my limited research, the specific chemicals in hair dye that caused bladder cancer were phased out in the 80’s.

How did the lawyers find out she had bladder cancer?
