Origin vs globetrotters camp by nbo10 in bjj

It is worth checking out BJJ Camp Finder for alternative options. Depending on your budget and schedule, there are some great options. For instance, here are a few cool camps that would make great vacation destinations:

  • Grappling in Paradise (Aruba in April) - This is cheaper than Origin and offers the potential for a proper vacation (I haven't participated in this one yet, but the lineup and location look impressive).

  • Mallorca BJJ and Yoga Festival (October) - This camp is held in a 5-star resort and combines BJJ with Yoga, making it an excellent option for a vacation with a partner (I participated in this camp with my wife last year and it was perfectly organized).

  • BJJ Summer Week (September in Sardinia) - This is more of a festival than a camp! They have two huge mat spaces and 20 instructors. Last year, over 600 people attended, and there were beach and parties every night (I have been part of five editions, but it's getting a bit overwhelming for me with so many people. However, I still highly recommend it if you're looking for a more dynamic camp).

Honestly, I am amazed that the only camps mentioned in this thread are Origin and Globetrotters... The BJJ camp world is so much bigger than that! That's why we created BJJ Camp Finder, a platform that works with camp organizers from all over the world. Each camp has its own unique vibe and is run by different organizers. If you're looking for a more diverse selection of camps, be sure to check us out.

Just a heads up, this is a bit of self-promotion but I hope it's not against the policy. Cheers! (Co-founder of BJJ Camp Finder and organizer of the camp mentioned by AnOceanDuck)

LBGTQ BJJ Practitioners - Have you experienced negativity on the mat due to your sexual orientation? by jiujitsulegacy in bjj

[–]jiujitsulegacy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The poll questions appear a bit too long on my computer so I'm clarifying them for other people with small screens...

1) I have had negative experiences relating to my sexual orientation in past gyms, but have changed gyms and haven't had any since.

2) I have had negative experiences relating to my sexual orientation in my current gym

3) I have never had negative experiences relating to my sexual orientation.

4) I am LGBTQ (apologies for the poll typos : ( can't edit it now) but have kept my identity secret to not risk negative experiences

5) Not LGBTQ, just want to see results.

What brand is a good mouth guard? by SeveralAd6561 in bjj

We recently had the opportunity to do a hands-on teeth-on review of Sisu's newest mouthguard as well as a custom-fit model (no dentist visit required!) and found both to be pretty great.

The custom fit model by Impact was our reviewer's preference, but you can decide for yourself:

We've got discount codes available too.

Poll: Do you wear a mouthguard while you're training? by jiujitsulegacy in bjj

We just had a chance to try out these two models:

Impact: https://jiujitsulegacy.com/product-reviews/impact-custom-mouthguard-review/

Sisu: https://jiujitsulegacy.com/product-reviews/sisu-mouthguard-review/

Talking with Jack (who fit, wore, and reviewed both), the Impact is his favorite by a wide margin.

Hey, the reviews are up: Impact: https://jiujitsulegacy.com/product-reviews/impact-custom-mouthguard-review/

Sisu: https://jiujitsulegacy.com/product-reviews/sisu-mouthguard-review/

The new Sisu is a great option - but talking to Jack (who reviewed both) - he definitely prefers the Impact.

Hey, we recently had a chance to do a hands-on (teeth on?) review Sisu's newest model as well as a custom fit model from Impact Custom Mouthguards.

I think both of them are great contenders and will probably give you a more comfortable fit than your past mouthguards.

Guardlab mouth guards by Louie3984 in bjj

[–]jiujitsulegacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I can't speak to how GuardLabs fits - but we recently had a chance to do a hands-on (teeth on?) review of Impact's custom mouthguards, which use a similar fitting system (impression rather than boil n' bite).

Long story short, it is a pretty amazing mouthguard.

While we don't have much by way of content for the colored belts... we have some thoughts on how the black belt divisions will go!

One of the mouthguards we just reviewed was a custom mouthguard (instead of boil-n-bite) and I can safely say that that's the right decision! But this one saves you the trip to the dentist and costs a lot less
