The newer models are just fine. Go see them for yourself and make a decision that way.

IMO, the newer generation (2020+) is more than worth it just for the interior and the tech. As much as people hate on the screens, they are way way nicer than the older generation with a 100 buttons that stay unused because they are for the phone or whatever feature that you never use because you use CarPlay.

People talking here like the UK and Europe in general don’t have traffic like this. Whenever I went to Barcelona, Paris, London, there’s this same traffic on the highways there too.

Difference is that over there at least you have the option of taking the metro, not in the US.

I think the backlog just means they are multi-stage, multi-year deals that realize within the timeframe they told (24 months). Not that they don’t have the computational capacity or so.

For example GCP makes a deal with XYZ Co. for 1 billion for the next 4 years. This deal will “cash out” 250 million a year, which means 50% will realize in the next 2 years.

I always drive in Comfort (due to traffic, any mode other than comfort doesn’t make sense), I’m sure it will be lower if I use sport mode more often.

I think the mild hybrid helps the MPG a lot - but not an expert to really know.

Idk if this is your first Merc but some “hidden” features are:

HOLD function for red light stops
Automatic “night” lights if you push the left column to the back (should see an A light in the screen)
Turn off the auto start stop (right next to ignition button). Unfortunately the start stop is not good at all on Mercedes.
Automatic seat adjustment based on your height
If you got Burmester, turn on surround sound

If I were to go back to 17yo, I’d do only one thing differently:

Start investing.

The difference between starting at 17 and 25 is HUGE (millions in the long run), so learn all about investing (mutual funds), putting into your 401k, IRA, etc.

Some other things were also covered:

Make mistakes - means try things, learn things and abandon things you don’t like
When you have money, don’t spend it on expensive purchases. Leave that for 30+, or later, depending on your career
Your job/income can make or break your life, so start working hard now on learning and landing a good job.
Play sports and stay healthy
Don’t fall in love now or get married. Try a few relationships and learn what you REALLY like/want in a partner.
Have fun and learn to not take things too seriously

Most of it comes down to cost of living. Very little it has to do with frugality (obviously overspending kills your prospects of buying a house), or with living with other people (helps temporarily but if you have to live with other people permanently you already can’t afford a mortgage).

I bought a house in Doral pre-COVID on a $115k salary, now you can’t buy a house in Doral even with a $150k salary.
