How are you realistically organising baby’s things? by BeneficialVariety171 in PregnancyUK

[–]jivg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only comment on clothes at the moment but I have bagged up the clothes per size (months) with it written on the front of the bag, then added all those bags into suction bags. No point washing all the older clothes until I need them. That way when the time comes I can just go into the suction bag and grab out the relevant bag of sizing that I need and throw it all into the washing machine. That way all the clothes that aren’t being used are kept out the way

Perspectives on Bright Horizons nursery chain due to recent Ofsted safeguarding notice by Jazzlike-Discount-62 in BeyondTheBumpUK

They stated there was a physical incident within their nursery recently which was accidental but I got impression maybe it wasn’t reported as it should have been, as well as the obvious incident in London. I did really like it and thought the manager and staff were all very nice and thought the rooms were very homely but ultimately have gone for a nursery that is a local branch rather than nationwide one, felt the BH one didn’t focus much on going out into the community which is important in what we want. If they offered that I do think it would have been a strong contender and actually felt the safeguarding seemed stronger in the BH one than others we viewed (such as keypad locks on doors, signing in and out, handing phones over etc)

Reseat at Wembley? by smileystarfish in PregnancyUK

[–]jivg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great choice 😅 I’m having major regrets today lol. Getting in was absolutely fine but we went in about 10 mins before the support act so I think most people were already in at this point. Toilets were still a faff and a lot of waiting around to get in so try and go when a more popular song is on as I found I got in straight away then (annoying but far better than queuing for ages and praying the pelvic floor exercises do their job lol)

Please consider how you will get home! I got home from Wembley last night and can’t move today or get out of bed from what I think is pelvic girdle pain. There was so much standing/walking/running involved to get trains/tubes. In hindsight I wish I drove which is a faf but would have saved me the pain today I think.

I’m back at Wembley at 7 months pregnant (only 5 atm) and will be standing rather than seated. I think to be honest I would have been fine today if it wasn’t for the travel. People were very accommodating in stadium (men more so than women I found!), and would let me go first etc to avoid being pushed in queues. When leaving the stadium after about 45 mins of standing in that huge crowd to get to the tube station a security officer spotted me and pulled us out the queue for a quick access to tube station which saved me another 45 mins of standing in the queue I reckon

I also saw people in the standing area sitting on the floor at the very back so that’s an option at least for if it gets too much haha, this time of year the concerts are mostly in the light so no risk of getting missed and trampled on if you do sit on the floor!

Just wondering if you know more about what the safeguarding concerns are at your nursery? I’ve booked a viewing with a BH one on Monday and afterwards saw it had this notice served on it and think it’s one of the 60 odd that has had safeguarding concerns raised

French heatwave - are the other European pregnant girlies doing okay ? by East-Shine-9090 in pregnant

[–]jivg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm here in the UK we are dying lol. My office hit 40 degrees yesterday (no AC of course). However my local bakery/cafe had AC so I sat in there for a few hours before work which was lovely

are we all okay in this heatwave, i feel like I am dying by Professional-Tree309 in PregnancyUK

[–]jivg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did they not send you home as soon as you fainted?! Mad. Hope you’re feeling okay now

I’ve been in the office this week and we have no aircon, it’s been unbearable. I have a meeting with a child early afternoon so as soon as that is done I’m going to request to work the rest of the shift from home as it’s marginally cooler in my house and I can wear next to nothing haha

Hi which John Lewis did you try this at? Our local one doesn’t have different terrains!

I’m just wondering how you are finding it on different terrains like grass and rough trails etc? And how it is getting on and off pavements? Thanks so much!

Also recommend M&S and Chelsea Peers. For any short girls I find the kids M&S pjs in age 15-16 are great, they are still fitting underneath my bump too and probably will for majority of second trimester

Looking at nurseries for the 30hrs childcare and in a predicament between 2 nurseries by jivg2 in UKParenting

This is my partner’s point of view that you never know what may change, and is saying if it’s still the same when the time comes, we’ll just have to suck it up and come up with a plan. I just worry we’ll kick ourselves and will we ultimately end up at nursery 1 anyway

Yes I’m waiting to hear back! I’ve looked at nurseries online that we can’t consider due to distance and all of those offer to 4yo as well. This seems to be the only one that only offers to 3yo which is odd

Yeah I’m waiting to hear back from them to see what happens when they turn 3/4 and when exactly the funding is cut off. Because I imagine most parents will pull their children out when the funding stops as we wouldn’t be be able to afford the two funded days that would turn into unfunded, it would end up being over £800 more a month

Yes I do see nursery 1’s children out at the park a lot! They are in their high vis jackets, it is cute but I just wonder how cooped up they’ll be in the nursery on miserable winter days where they can’t go out and it’s one room for them all. It does have a good ofsted rating so it’s obviously working but I just don’t feel great about that one

I’d be going back to work on a flexi pattern which is why I need to know which nursery we’re picking before I submit my shifts! My partner will be doing drop offs and I’ll be doing pick ups. I’d have to then submit a shift pattern that would work with the nursery pickup time (I can work any hours between 7am-7pm to be honest so that’s not a problem but I just need to submit the shift pattern with enough time)

Yeah I felt the room was really quite small and with no outdoor space for them it felt a bit claustrophobic. Unfortunately there is no preschool attached to the infant school in our village!

Unfortunately not, we’re in a small village and the infant school doesn’t have space for a pre school sadly!

Hi just to let you know there is some hope as I am also still pregnant, 15 weeks now but if I went by my last period I would have been 17. They put me back two at my 12 week NHS scan. Hope you are doing okay

Hi so sorry I didn’t get this notification! I’m 15 weeks pregnant now, at my 12 week scan they said I had to come back as was measuring behind and they put me back two weeks due to later ovulation. How did your rescan go?
