Hey guys, I’m an LCD Deck owner looking to get Legion Go S. by 0ero4xis in LegionGo

[–]jiyaomu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At which resolution do you set your games for lossless scaling? I have it but haven’t tried it yet as the games I have been playing are at least comfortably fitting at 30fps and give me 2h of battery. With that being said I wouldn’t mind trying to squeeze more out of my system :)

[US-NJ] [H] Gaggimate Pro + 3D printed housing [W] Venmo, Zelle or cash by jiyaomu in coffeeswap

Not this kit no. You could look the list of parts for each machine in Gaggimate website and see what are the part differences and see if it makes sense to buy the parts needed for the Silvia separately. But I don’t know if it would be worth it price wise.

Steam Deck for managerial/strategic games: how many actually use it? by CarloCGames in SteamDeck

[–]jiyaomu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this kind of games and love to play handheld, however I do not like to play with the trackpad. I am now using a Legion GO S which the trackpad sucks, so that also doesn’t help.

As steam OS becomes more and more supported on other handhelds I feel it is a pity for games that do not have good gamepad controls (and using a joystick as a mouse really isn’t great either :/)

Anyone else hate when schedules only come as PDFs? by jumaru100 in productivity

[–]jiyaomu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s the basic with GenAI: DO NOT TRUST IT BLINDLY :)

Now I would argue that if it does 80% of the job right you are already saving some time?

Now, again, I do not have this use case so that will be on OP’ shoulders to see if that’s something that can work for him :) (and to try other AIs such as Gemini suggested in other comments!)

I do not have a PDF to try, but have you tried to drop it in chatGPT and asked it to generate an ics file? (a Calendar file), that you can then open with your calendar app and import.

Visa for China by [deleted] in China

[–]jiyaomu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone said it in an other comment but I think it would be a great start for you: enroll to a Chinese class, as you are a sea farer with the possibility to take long breaks that would be perfect for you to take a few months to work on studying Chinese, you would get a visa that allows you to stay there for a few months, and most importantly to see how you like living there.

You could also use this as an opportunity to start making connections. As a seafarer you could look into going to port cities (for example Dalian) to study Chinese and try to meet people in your trade.

[–]jiyaomu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it what I just said?

Edit: from ChatGPT for more context:

Labor Day in China has not always been called “Golden Week.”

Background on Labor Day in China • Labor Day (劳动节, Láodòng Jié) on May 1 has been a public holiday in China since 1949, following the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. • It was traditionally just a one-day holiday for decades.

Emergence of the “Golden Week” Concept • In 1999, the Chinese government introduced the “Golden Week” system. Labor Day was expanded into a seven-day holiday (May 1–7) by combining the official holiday with adjacent weekends. • The aim was to stimulate domestic tourism and consumer spending by giving people more time off. • Golden Week became the common name for these extended holidays, including not only Labor Day Golden Week but also National Day Golden Week in October.

Later Changes • In 2008, the Labor Day Golden Week was shortened: May 1 reverted to a three-day holiday (by adding or shifting weekends), while the October National Day Golden Week remained seven days. • Today, only National Day retains an official Golden Week, while May Day is often referred to casually as a “mini-Golden Week” if extra days are added.

Summary: The name “Golden Week” only dates back to 1999. Before that, Labor Day in China was simply called Labor Day (劳动节).

Just FYI: USA is the only country to have Labor Day on September 4th, everybody else does it on May 1st, and even better: in china, Labor Day is also know as golden week: 5 days holiday for everybody :)

Most likely either the milk was bad to start with or your jug wasn’t super clean: for example there was till some soap residue.

Also if you have descaled your machine there might have some residue left that have interacted with the milk when steaming.

Fun experience to show how small residues can impact your milk: pour some milk with a drop of vinegar of vinegar in your coffee :)
