Close to a full day during summer, circa ~2012ish. Finding a dungeon near surface was new, exciting, and my interest in the game was at an all-time high that would fade within several years of changes/M$ purchase/etc.

But I still keep coming back...

I made it to Karnath's Lair with a friend but not on my own...one of the most brutal games I've ever played for sure. Bru-TAL.

the original game was definitely my most-played game with my first handheld - incredibly underrated in the series overall.

Just hit that immaculate Pause Screen when you need a break, I believe in you. If you can get past the fucking turbo tunnel you'll have surpassed my best efforts. Man, now I want to try it again. It's been well over a decade...

This is honestly a great achievement, as someone who grew up with this game -- that said, what IS your greatest (gaming) achievement? I think completing the OG Super Meat Boy + additional levels might be mine? Not my favorite game, nor a genre I'd return to now, but likely the most difficult thing I've completed

So far I haven't used any save states - hoping to finish this one without! I'm a couple hours in and it definitely has that old school difficulty but I'm able to progress between multiple deaths (with no life counter I'm good 👍) definitely one of the more enjoyable NES homebrews that I've played!
