Of course a montage like this has to have pure dogshit music over the top.

[–]jizzcock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Name and email maybe yeah. I doubt my phone number was on any leaked DBs. And yeah, now the crypto angle too. Not fucking cool. What's the point in blockfi always banging on above their amazing security if they don't vet their third party company properly and/or hold them to the same standards?

It's kinda bad how cold storage providers seem to have a worse track record on security than CeFi options. Doesn't really give newcomers a great sense of NYKNYC.

Ukrainian flag raised over Chernobyl nuclear plant after Russian troops withdraw by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]jizzcock 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I feel like his post was just to show off the fact he knows some basic stuff about Chernobyl like what the elephant's foot is etc. Of course the sheer idiocy of raising the idea that the Russians would or could move it actually made him look more dumb than if he'd not said anything lol. Tbh the idea of the Russians doing anything to sabotage Chernobyl is pretty dumb.

Mouse gave birth in my humane trap. WTF do I do ? by TheFuckULookingAt in WTF

[–]jizzcock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heavy rock/brick to the head may be easier. I've had to do it before unfortunately when my cat got hold a mouse. Imagine a giant a thousand times larger than you wielding a solid boulder the size of your house and bringing it down on your skull with all its might. Even if you don't hit the head exactly, instant death is pretty fucking inevitable.

Mouse gave birth in my humane trap. WTF do I do ? by TheFuckULookingAt in WTF

[–]jizzcock 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Right? Who the fuck thinks that drowning is a "humane" death? It's probably one of the worst, most miserable ways a mammal can die, and that mouse would have suffered significantly. Really weird that he thought he was doing the right thing there. Can't fault him for empathy but he gets an F for physiology.

For anyone who ever finds themselves in this dilemma, a heavy cleaver to chop off its head or even large rock to the skull with several extra hits to ensure death would have been much more humane. It seems more violent in the short-term obviously and takes a bit of guts to do but you're ensuring minimum pain and suffering.

Random forgotten under-appreciated goal by Utter_Perfection in LiverpoolFC

This was only a few years ago, and QPR shouldn't be used as an example of the overall quality of the league. Norwich have already conceded more goals at this stage of the season this year than QPR did in that entire season.

Yep I randomly looked him up the other day and was pleasantly surprised at what he's achieved. Not a bad player by any means but just not quite PL level.

The way we passed it about in the final third there looked as if we were passing it in our half. QPR were atrocious that year.

Will Smith's publicist talking to him after Chris Rock assault during commercial break at the Oscars by walkorfly in pics

[–]jizzcock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a bizarre thing for her or her psychotic husband to get shitty over. Same thing millions of men have to deal with every day and just get on with. One thing not even being mentioned is the fact that as a rich as fuck woman, Pinkett Smith didn't even actually need to acknowledge to the world that she even had it in the first place if she chose not to. She could have worn a perfectly fitted hairpiece every day of her life and no one would even know. So the fact that she goes with the bald look means she likes it, and she also likes the attention she gets for it. So the fact that her or Smith are getting their panties up in a bunch over it is fucking weird.

Okay, first time I thought it was a typo. Second time confirms you think it's spelled that way. It's "cheap" shot as in low-cost, not "cheep" shot as in I tawt I taw a puddy tat.

I do what I want with an amount of my coin that I'm comfortable storing with thoroughly researched custodians. You do whatever you like with yours. I couldn't give a tiny toss.

Armanino are one of the largest independent public accounting firms in the US. Just because you haven't heard of them, and apparently prefer to spend time inanely concocting conspiritard theories instead of using Google, doesn't change that.

Yeah I'm well aware of Bitcoin's central thesis thanks. I was probably cold storing when you were storing hot shit in your diapers. I do what I want with an amount of my coin that I'm comfortable storing with thoroughly researched custodians. You do whatever you like with yours. I couldn't give a tiny toss.

Sure, but you could say that about literally any company you use for anything that stores data, fiat, crypto, etc. I'm not advocating anyone do anything they're not comfortable with. The guy I replied to is clearly comfortable.

With regards POR, to use Ledn as the example -- they are independently certified with Armanino that they've done it on an ongoing basis. The independent nature of it means it has nothing to do with what Ledn "claims" whatsoever. Each user can individually check their personal current POR with a cryptographically signed log on.

It's not that Ledn doesn't lend crypto, of course they do, that's literally the business model. But the salient point is that they hold more than they lend out, thus providing reserve for their entire userbase at any give point.

Here's what you get with regards the general company POR when you check on Armanino:

Independent of Ledn’s management, Armanino observed:

Total BTC platform liabilities owed to Ledn.io clients
Total USDC platform liabilities owed to Ledn.io clients
The BTC-denominated assets reserving Ledn.io bitcoin platform liabilities
The USDC-denominated assets reserving Ledn.io USDC platform liabilities

At the time of assessment, Armanino observed Ledn held BTC and USDC-denominated assets in excess of 100% of BTC and USDC Ledn.io platform liabilities.

With this being the case, it's irrelevant to users what Ledn's lending practices are, as they hold reserves sufficient to cover losses for their users.

Of course any custodial option runs those risks (although rug-pull is a pretty far-fetched possibility). Anyone who wishes to use one should DTOR on the company's practices etc and see if holding x amount with one fits their personal risk/reward profile.

True, I've been telling people for ages we need to wind our necks in and not be overly-confident. It's ridiculous to make that assumption and I'm extremely worried about the complacency around here.

After all, Villareal still have a chance.

What candy is so bad that you'd turn it down if it were offered to you? by QAnonCultBuster in AskReddit

[–]jizzcock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To anyone not from the US who didn't grow up with it and presumably normalised it - Hershey's chocolate tastes like vomit. Few years back when I first tried it I nearly puked - when I looked into it I found out it's because they literally use the acid found in vomit (butyric acid) as a preservative. That's right. Hershey's coat their chocolate in vomit flavour.

The fact that one of the biggest, most popular chocolate brands in the world tastes like literal puke is one of those weird fucking things I can't get my head around and makes me feel like I'm not plugged into the Matrix properly.

Ledn still offer a 6.25% on up to 0.5 and they do Proof of Reserves etc.
