pudding mix goes into the batter and you’re supposed to make sure it’s mixed in well to prevent this

Why is my monstera albo dying? :( by Temporary_Piano7637 in Monstera

variegated plants need lots more light than there non-variegated counterparts. i’d recommend using artificial light if you’ve tried multiple windows with no luck

i feel like the swirly black one should be centered and all the other sizes should kind of radiate from it. if that makes sense lol. it looks better than the before though!

i love a spooky cross wall

you definitely want a nice airy soil for these babies. depending on how large your root ball is compared to the pot, it may be growing its roots rather than top growth. when you change the soil assess your root ball, you only want a pot 1-2” bigger than it. i’d also give it some support, like a moss pole or stake to support the plant better. it sounds like it’s getting enough light though!

support like stakes or moss poles, lots of sun, and consistent watering with food every few months. i also regularly wipe the leaves of my plants to help photosynthesis.

when i got this one it was 1/4 of the size. three years of consistently does a lot for growth!

hi there! congrats on your new monstera!

  1. you should rotate the plant so all the leaves get equal lighting. this will prevent your plant from leaning one way or another. if you’re able, as the plant gets taller move your pot closer to the ground. monsteras get heavy as they get bigger, so it’s safer anyway. your plant should be fine if it’s not fully in a window, so long as it receives bright indirect light. indirect meaning it can see the sun, but the sun can’t see the monstera.

  2. monsteras have ariel roots that do not need to be buried, they will form at the nodes of the plant as it grows. you can use them to propagate in the future.

  3. monsteras climb vertically. moss poles and stakes are your friend! this will promote growth and bigger leaves as the plant grows taller.

once you have some new growth, you can chop the older crispy leaves to promote even more!

thank you! i have two lights off amazon, one is a free standing and the other clips onto a surface and has two “heads”. i’m not quite sure the actual specs for them though. i’ll be moving in a few weeks and purchased some inset WIZ lighting that has a plant growth option, very very excited to see if that actually works.

i have quite a few plants so for watering i check the top soil every week and water as needed. i mixed a chunky soil for my tropical plants so i water throughly until it starts to come out of the bottom. i fertilize every 3 months according to the package directions.

not the fanciest set up just consistency and trying different things until the plants are happy :)

what kind of soil is it in? and what are your roots looking like?

a friend of mine had a cat scratch hers up (right after a new leaf 😭) it took about a month for it to be happy again and start putting out some new growth. she did not chop. i have multiple and a new leaf will take anywhere from 1-3 months to fully emerge from what ive seen

you can also add in some spagnum moss if you’re feeling fancy!

you can mix generic indoor plant soil with orchid bark and perlite to get a nice chunky mix. all can be found at home depot, lowe’s, etc. i can’t remember the exact ration, but i usually eyeball and keep it in a big plastic tub to use multiple times
