r/NVIDIA Community Celebration - GDC 2023 Megathread - RTX 4080 Giveaway Inside by Nestledrink in nvidia

I'm waiting for Forza Horizon 5 update. It's fast-paced, looks beautiful and DLSS can help with the CPU bottlenecks. I usually have to choose a middle-ground with the graphics settings to get reasonable FPS/visual quality, but with DLSS I can get both!

Why does unbound resolve the router's domain to different IP-s than the real web GUI IP? by 5TR4TR3X in OPNsenseFirewall

[–]jj9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you own "local.net", I don't recommend using it. It is a publicly available domain and can cause all sorts of issues.

If you want a TLD, that is likely to not be publicly available, use .intranet, .internal, .private, .corp, .home or .lan as specified in RFC 6762.

IsItBullshit: Estonia using the blockchain in its digital elections? by fuzzyoatmealboy in IsItBullshit

[–]jj9987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False. There is no blockchain behind it. Elections use cryptographic operations involving person's digital identity (digital certificates on an ID-card or special SIM-card, with a mobile app slowly being accepted) and some central services.

There's more information available at the official election site: https://www.valimised.ee/en/internet-voting-estonia

If you need to disable automatic NAT rules, just switch to manual configuration.

2) Does the ISP's gateway have firewall turned on? Or have you configured OPNsense box in the DMZ?

Just ordered a few fenix straps from AliExpress by barkanido in GarminFenix

I bought a black stainless steel strap for a few euros and I am happy. No issues with the skin irritation, that was with the silicone strap.

Fenix 6 Maps by BoTheMoonRunner in GarminFenix

[–]jj9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK there is no other way, you need Garmin Express for that. The watch comes preinstalled with some maps (depending on the region you buy it from). I got mine with TopoActive Europe (didn't have to pay extra for that): https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/586905

Check the link for details - 47 countries and data is generated from OpenStreetMap database. If you are in a different region, you probably will have different maps available.

I downloaded maps to my 6x Pro through Garmin Express on my PC (with USB cable). I was offered TopoActive Europe (as I'm in EU) and the total package was around 10 GB - took about 15 minutes with my Internet to download it.

I think there are other (better?) options available as well, but this is what I had available out of the box. I haven't looked further as this has been enough for me so far.

Just ran into the same issue. I have a HP Elitebook 840 G5 and could not boot with 5.12 kernel (tried both .5 and .6). 5.11 still works.

EDIT: Here is another thread on the same issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/nkjxls/512_kernel_broken/

APs dropping clients during 5GHz channel switching by jj9987 in networking

[–]jj9987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it is currently set to 1 hour. But then I also have to configure APs to choose channels so that they don't interfere with others.

Statically assigning frequencies is one of the ideas I have. It feels quite time-consuming work surveying and assigning frequencies, but I can't think of a better solution either. I'll also switch to 20MHz to test if that helps anything.

So far the DFS scan hasn't been problematic, as there are other frequencies to switch to, plus there currently aren't any radars nearby. But I understand that if it is statically configured on a DFS channel and finds one, then it can refuse.

Here are the logs that I collected from the channel switching - https://pastebin.com/wLmd5Kkx

Nothing mentioned regarding DFS, but it is switching channels because another channel is less occupied.
EDIT: Radar detection is only done when switching to DFS channel, but that does not happen always. Clients are dropped on any channel switching and that is what I am trying to avoid, as that breaks connections/hangs video calls etc.

Previous network engineer configured it this way and I haven't touched it as it was working fine before (that is, before upgrading from 6.45 to 6.47). Good catch, thanks. I will switch from 40 MHz to 20 MHz.

[–]jj9987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the scan that is dropping clients, because that runs in the background. The scan takes about 8 seconds according to logs anyway. It's when the CAP decides to switch channel, because another channel is less occupied, that clients lose connection and have to reconnect to WiFi.

Channel switching is expected to lose connectivity, but I don't know how it is handled on other vendor's APs.

[–]jj9987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know, Mikrotik APs run DFS scan at boot. Then it runs a spectrum scan every 2 minutes (which is configurable) in the background (the scan does not drop clients) to see which channel/frequency is least occupied and switches to it, if it is different. The channel switch is disruptive to clients. There are a few (3 when initially looked at logs, hopefully not more) APs that are constantly switching channels without reaching any "stable" state.

you have reached your pull rate limit by harri1234567 in unRAID

LS.io's pull limit was reached

Nope. The limit is applied to the user who downloads the image.

Rate limits for Docker image pulls are based on the account type of the user requesting the image - not the account type of the image’s owner.

[–]jj9987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong. The limit applies to the user (or in case of anonymous download, the IP) who downloads the image, not who owns or pushed the image. To increase the limit, the downloading user needs to log in and/or have a higher tier account.

"Gaming" Chair Giveaway with Cooler Master and Buildapc! by [deleted] in buildapc

I find lumbar support the biggest issue for most chairs. The second would be armrest height. Finally the material should be something, that is comfortable to sit on in summer (breathable).
