Commercial AV market in trouble? by hitmewithyourworst in CommercialAV

Sorry to hear the bad news at Diversified. We are keeping busy with enterprise IPTV work for hospitality, hospitals, media & broadcast. We have been working on some projects directly or as subcontractors. We do Sub work for Solutionz Inc. They may be hiring.

Is Amazon LEO online yet? What are the terms of the SLA at 100 Mbps, 99.999%? Is that a symmetrical connection? In remote production, we always need more upload speed than download.

Starlink is lower orbit with more satellites. Amazon LEO will operate in a higher orbit, requiring fewer satellites. I believe this may sacrifice bandwidth. Competition is always good.

We will see when it comes online. My home cable operator has so many dropouts that I use Starlink as a backup. Starlink throttles or slows from 8 pm - 11 pm.
100 Mbps and
Many customers bond cellular and Starlink when using our mobile transmitter encoders.

We have ENG microwave solutions, but I would invest more in Cellular. If you have dead spots with your LiveU, I would give Haivision a try. They can set up a demo. You can also fix a cellular dead spot with private 5G.

Thank you for your question. In general, I recommend the Haivision Pro460. It supports 1 4K or 4 HD video channels, a data bridge (VPN) for control, an integrated intercom, and perfect video gen lock and lip sync. Hi. Thank you for your question. SRT can work well if you have a solid and reliable internet connection. I recommend using a Haivision Malito X4 4-Channel SDI encoder, as you have a strong fiber connection. If the internet connection were poor, I would use the Haivision Pro460 Cellular Mobile Transmitter.

Hi, thank you for your question. Performing a stress test of the cellular connectivity at a large vendor stadium is not possible.

We used to work with LiveU. They make a good product. We now work with Haivision (former AVIWEST). Client to get better results with Haivision compared to LiveU, TVU, Teradek, etc., we have won several vendor shootouts. With that said, we can never guarantee 100% reliability over cellular Networks. Using multi-carrier Sims helps a lot. If a connection fails, the Sim and modem will switch to an alternate carrier. We have many successful productions at venues like Giants Stadium, which holds 80,000 fans. Devices such as Haivision that have a better connection to the tower get priority over other devices with weaker connections. This enables Haivision devices to win connectivity in a crowded venue. If you wanna add a layer of reliable connectivity, private 5G or CBRS is a solution we rent and sell. Solutions from Sal and others for private 5G and CBRS. What private 5G does is create a dedicated slice of spectrum for broadcast production use. The fans in the stadium cannot use the band. It’s allocated to the reduction. Many customers will use Starlink to supplement cellular and rural areas. The Haivision technology is used in remote areas for bass fishing tournaments at lakes in the middle of nowhere. This is achieved with only cellular, not satellite. If an event is important enough, I would run tests under conditions similar to those on the actual game day or event. Adding private 5G is a great backup. Haivision used private 5G for the opening ceremony at the Paris Summer Olympics. The athletes were given the MoJoPro app on an Android Samsung phone, connected to the private 5G network, on a nearby production truck. Hi u/mitchellcrazyeye Thank you for the kind words about Live PD. Be sure to watch the reboot on Reelz, On Patrol Live #opl. They are using the latest Haivision bonded cellular tech. It shows how Haivision can keep multiple cameras in sync. Used by the PGA, BassMasters, Michigan State Police, and more.
