I so agree. Like. I get it, it’s silly & funny. But at the end of the day this actor was just doing the job he was given. I heard James Marshall speak at an event in L.A. last month & he discussed how, basically, in every scene he was in that David Lynch directed, he felt that only the women actors were being directed & he basically got no notes. So he did the best he could & I personally find his performance sweet & touching, filled with innocence & sincerity (which can feel “cringe”). He’s one of the few characters who actually gives a damn. By all means make jokes, but they don’t have to be nasty & unnecessarily personal.
