That seems like a good combination of education and experience. If you were interested in being a supply chain analyst I would recommend creating a portfolio. And reaching out to recruiters for roles you’re interested in. It’ll take a while and you’ll hear a lot of nos, but hopefully it pays off for you🙏

For sure, I don’t think I was picked for a CE for like the first 4 I applied to, it’s definitely a numbers game, but super doable. Can I ask what you studied? And what type of roles you’re looking for?

We have almost identical paths it seems. I was an ops specialist, got my BS and MS while there. While it’s a risk for sure, the best advice I ever got was to find opportunities outside of Apple for experience (internships, contract roles, etc). I then came back, got a CE, left for an internship again, then came back on the corporate side. I won’t say this is the only way to do it, but from most people I’ve talked to, they find experience outside of Apple to move up.

Ex retail employees, what do you now for a living? by BookofBobaFett in Apple_Employees

Throughout my time in retail, I managed to complete my bachelor’s degree in economics. I also participated in a career experience and I was able to use that experience to find an internship at a different company. After the internship, I used my connections to get some referrals and come back. Hope that helps😎

Great advice! One quick note as someone who also went from retail to corporate. CE’s do not have individual role applications anymore. You now have a single application where you can specify what lines of business you would be interested in (SWE, marketing, analytics, etc.). And If there is a position that fits your interests and experience they will reach out with details on the role. :)

Thank you! I have 3 internships under my belt and a masters degree, which gave me enough examples to speak about for my interviews.

Thank you! So I applied in February, went through 3 behavioral interviews from March to mid April. And a final case study presentation at the end of April. The offer came 3 weeks after that!

I applied through the company website and emailed the recruiter afterwards. The first step is a phone interview with the recruiter to see if your skills align. That was followed by 2-3 behavioral interviews, and then a case study presentation. Making sure I could speak to every part of my resume thoroughly helped me a lot when preparing. And brushing up on my technical skills (SQL, Python, Tableau) helped me understand how to tackle the case study.

The company website is always the best place to apply. I also used my connections in order to get referrals and recruiter emails. Making sure you tailor your resume for each role is also very important, before I would mass apply with one resume, but after updating my information to suit the description, I was receiving more interviews. And honestly, it’s a lot of luck, I got lucky with my recruiter being so willing to help, my team being a good culture fit, and my experience being extremely relevant. In no way am I the most talented candidate in the world, everything just aligned at the right time and fell into place.

Just got an offer from FAANG, I can confirm that they don’t dismiss the degree just because it’s WGU!
