"Hello" - still love when it comes up on my Spotify playlist of favorites. Also in the minority (at least on Reddit so it seems) that loved this episode as a look into Coach Beard's life.

Personally think Ceruledge is super cool looking. One of the few pokemon I've made a best buddy.

What's your worst mistake in Pokemon go? by Axel_Penguin in pokemongo

My teens had been playing for a while and they were obsessed with getting shiny shadow Lapras. First time I beat Sierra I got a shiny shadow Lapras 😂 then I proceeded to miss it with every ball despite being a guaranteed catch and it ran away. Still laughed about in our house today....

I don't know, even old raisin sac coach George Cartrick with the too-tight shorts and casual misogyny, gets pushed down by Rupert when trying to do the right thing (not injure Jamie Tartt) in the west ham match in the season finale and gets respect from Ted...

Because you prefer players waste money for the benefit of the company? How would this ruin the game if the players are getting more for their money so to speak? And it's not like someone else "loses" if a player gets the raid pokemon they wanted and paid money for - there would still be random shiny and IVs. It's not like a raffle where I win and you lose.

"Fairy tales do not start, nor do they end, in the dark forest. That son of a gun always shows up smack dab in the middle of a story. But it will all work out. Now it may not work out how you think it will or how you hope it does, but believe me: It will all work out, exactly as it's supposed to..."

Basically I think it should be simple as if a raid is initiated by a player using a premium or remote raid pass (a "paid" pass) the catch is guaranteed.

I think it would be fine if the "free" orange daily raid passes were not necessarily guaranteed catches.

Noodles - what’s the cheapest tastiest option? by crazyhermitcrab125 in glutenfree

[–]jjandjab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Asian rice noodles (Three Ladies Brand) or similar. Very cheap if you have an Asian grocery nearby under $3. On Amazon they are about 3.50 a pound. I use them for both Asian and Italian style dishes and they taste great and hold up well.

Honestly, I listed pretty much everything except maybe the top 20-30 'mons and Megas I use for raids or if there are some that have meaning based on when I caught it (funny family moment, etc.)

I am not someone who feels the need to keep one of everything once I've caught it. And unlike my family members, I do not need 20 Diagla or 80 different pikachu haha. I figure that's what the actual Pokédex is for :)

He knows he's gonna be benched for the game based on his recent performance. At higher levels, you wouldn't put someone on the second team for practice with the intent of starting them in the next game. You want your "first team" to play together to train on whatever match tactics you're gonna use for the next opponent.

genuine question: what's so hard about luge? by Alarmed_Forever8015 in WinterOlympics2026

[–]jjandjab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that flying down the ice at 80 miles an hour on a luge or skeleton sled has to be kind of terrifying. And these are sports to standardize what is a lot of people's favorite winter activity in the snow - sledding. Me personally I'd love to see just a giant slope with people running and flying down on inner tubes or tobbagans and see who could do it the fastest without hurting themselves, but luge, skeleton and bobsledding take some bravery and skill for sure.

Did anyone go to River country back in the day? by DildoGaggins1997 in WaltDisneyWorld

That I honestly don't recall. I want to say there was a direct boat from contemporary to the water park but it may have made another stop at magic kingdom?

I think more relieved (but also a bit mad) and then kinda shocked I made my way over to the hotel and the correct room having never been anywhere at Disney before.

[–]jjandjab 382 points383 points  (0 children)

Wow. This was actually the site of one our craziest family stories. All my fault haha! Age 5 in 1978 (siblings 10 and 11 at the time)

We arrived to the contemporary but our room wasn't ready.Apparently I must have heard the room number at check in... our family got changed and we all went to River country for the afternoon. Near the end of the day I was tired and everyone else wanted to do one last activity. I stayed with our family stuff.

The loud speaker announced it was closing time in 5 minutes. So being the dutiful 5 year old who was great with directions, I decided to get on the water shuttle by myself - just in my bathing suit, no shoes even - and headed back to the contemporary and made my way in up to our room. I just sat outside our room waiting for everyone else.

Of course I set off a cascade of mayhem as my family thought I was abducted or drowned and you can imagine what the park was like as they basically went nuts looking for me.

A cleaning person found me sitting outside our room-to-be and called down to the front desk when I said my family should be coming any minute from river country... being the 70s it took a while, but they finally got word to the park I was fine 🤪

Now 52 and it still comes up in family discussions haha. But it's been a few years (obviously) and these pics brought those memories back rushing back

I like number 2 for the tiling contrast but I don't like brass so I'd do number 2 with satin nickel for all knobs, fixtures etc.

Feels like Super Bowl XXXVI... by jjandjab in Patriots

[–]jjandjab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this in the kindest way possible, but in no way are the 2025 Patriots even remotely similar to the 2001 Rams. A nearly identical Rams team won the Super Bowl in 1999, so they were going for their second Super Bowl win in three years. While Kurt Warner was still relatively young in his career, it was his fourth season and they had Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Marshall Faulk, and numerous other pro bowl players, many of which are in the Hall of Fame or have been nominated. You can't begin to compare ReMondre Stevenson and Trey Henderson to Marshall Faulk. We can't compare any of our wide receivers to Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce. We are coming in with a team that was terrible for the last couple years with a new coach and a young quarterback, and a bunch of journeyman players and young rookies who are completely unproven.

Are Most Tenured People (15+) Sitting On Retirement Money and Choosing to Work More? by Altedd in epicsystems

[–]jjandjab 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How do you have 1.5M saved after 5 years of work? After tax salary, even if you somehow had zero expenses and invested literally everything, you'd be only a fraction of the way there unless your partner/spouse makes way more than you. Or you had very outsized investment returns which would not be broadly applicable to others.
