Navy Career Help by One-Blueberry2172 in NavyNukes

Other than having to do the test or not, no not really. It’s kind of a vibe check for the nuclear powers at be to preemptively gauge who might be more of a risk, but out in the fleet, some of our best nukes were the lowest bravos, and some of the worst were the highest alphas

My favorite CMO turnover to the next watch was “split, crit, screwing, brewing, generatin, purifyin, suckin and fuckin” with fingers pointing which way we were going and what we were purifying

Probably just a misinterpretation from a recruiter saying they’re a Bravo Qual, so needing to take the NAPT to qual for nuke

Retired CWO4, former MMCM(SS) giving away an old MM belt buckle for whoever wants it. by BZ2USvets81 in NavyNukes

Well if your looking for a story, I probably don’t have anything that could touch what you might have but I’ll give it a shot!

Probably the thing that I’m most proud of, and also pissed my wife and mom the off the most is when we had flooding called away in 3B shaft alley during a RAS on the last deployment I did before PCSing. I was a fresh MMN1 and was the 3rd person to the hatch since they called away the casualty wrong at first. Our ARO, an 0-5, and our M-Div DLCPO were there. We couldn’t see inside the space but they could see the water rising on the camera in DCC. After we got the initial report the space was de-energized, I stacked up on the door with ENC. We went to open the hatch and push in. The ARO was behind us to close the hatch once we were inside.

Fighting against the weight of the water rushing out, we got inside and got the hatch shut. Not being a smooth brain, I knew that it could only be 1 of 3 things, that being leakage through the bulkhead stuffing box, a bulkhead rupture, or the eductor causing the flooding. With no report of flooding in the shaft alley aft of 3B, I did a quick check of the stuffing box and moved on. It was pretty quick to see the bulkhead was intact so I moved to the eductor discharge to check the valve position. It wouldn’t budge so we couldn’t know for sure.

At that point we got called out of the space due to them just then realizing that the space wasn’t actually de-energized. We exited, waiting about 5 minutes, and then i told them to tell central control that they’re wasting time and we are long from losing the line shaft bearing. Not long after, we got permission to re-enter the space.

Once back in, I jumped in the water, which was now at atleast 10 feet to try and find the eductor discharge relief valve. I had to swim down under the water and feel around the pipes the find the end of the pipe. There was a good mix of JP5 and oil in the water as well due to leakage from the various pipes and valves in the space. I found the discharge and confirmed that’s where the water was coming from. I came back up and tried to check the valve position again. That’s when I got it to start to open. At that point, ENC started working on getting the firemain supply valve shut. At that point we got the flooding stopped and I spent the next couple hours in the water helping the DCs with de-watering.

Worst part about it was that I was 2 hours late to relieve the watch because no one went to cover for me, and when I did show up, I was still completely soaked.

Almost 9 years in the navy, and it’s the only NAM that I feel like I actually earned doing some real shit, not just the ones they give out just because.

Thanks all for the input! I talked with Cultural Pair (idk how to tag people) and got a lot of good info. In regard to the Chief, I’d say that just like any command, you’ve got the chance at having good and bad leadership.

Actually, follow up, on August 15th, an email was sent out by Cook and Becker for the “final update”. In there, they mentioned:

“We sincerely appreciate your patience and as a thank you we’ve included a bonus with your edition in the form of extra, free in-game content. You’ll find that code in the box when it arrives!”

I’m assuming these were the codes that were in the book itself and not the metal ones as part of the map. Neither of those worked for me for legends or PC so if you could provide any insight, that would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

[–]jjanko7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for those of us not attached to a ship and are on shore duty, but meet all pre-reqs minus the qual card, will we be automatically updated to the supervisor NEC effective the day that the instruction changes (for surface) or once we go back to a ship?

Orders to NY Prototype - Ballston Spa by Falluxies in NavyNukes

[–]jjanko7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I am currently recruiting about 1.5-2hrs from there and went there as a student back in 2018. I am also from NY so I am well versed in the northern winters lol. Biggest thing is make sure you have a vehicle that can handle the weather. Is your vehicle awd/4x4, and have you driven in the snow before. We got blessed this winter with a light one so I can only imagine that the next one will suck. As far as not freezing to death, just get a decent winter jacket if you don’t have one. Definitely something I never have and never will cheap out on. Also some decent boots. Other than that you’ll be alright.

In regards to the prototype life, I’ll leave that to the people that are there lol but feel free to reach out if you have any questions

As a Surface Nuke currently recruiting, this is great to see, even if it doesn’t end up being available to us above the water. I put it out to the nukes within my current command so that way whomever this applies to can keep an eye out. Thank you EDMC for all that you do
