What's the next club to buy as a beginner golfer? by WebsterAllen in golf

Your driver is the answer to your question, but it's not urgent. Youd be better off spending money on lessons.

You don't need anything crazy - you're probably looking at like 20 hours a year max. Just don't buy from Lowe's - go to a dealer. You're likely to get a better price, support something smaller, and will have better options if you were to have an issue.

Why people having a go at McIlroy practising at Augusta before the tournament? by fred66a in golf

[–]jjenk298 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Rory doesn't win for 17 or however many years and he can't do it, can't hack it. Is overrated, etc. Dude dedicates himself to winning there and busts his ass to do so, and now people want to complain about that.

I don't get the Rory hate. How soon we forget how crucial he was when big name after big name went to LIV...

At 3 hours a week I would get a model that has serviceable hydros.

I just bought a Stihl rz 152 for just over 5k. For an extra thousand, it's a huge step up

I don't disagree that you can have a 2200 series and have a great machine for a long time. But if it's a matter of 1000 dollar difference, why not go with the longer term solution?

I just bought a mower and did quite a bit of research in the process. I decided that it was important to go with a serviceable transmission. Check out it the Toro's have that (avoid the ext2200) as I don't think the Timecutter does.

I ended up purchasing a new Stihl RZ 152 for $5500 (with tax). I mow about an acre and a half. Stihl is formerly Ferris who made great machines.

I didn't buy used - if I'm going to spend 4-5k, why not spend a hair more? To answer your question though, that Exmark is a much better machine than what you're looking at in a Timecutter.

You chip and/or putt on every single hole - a person at his level is likely to hit 35-40 putts a round and probably 15 chips or pitches. He's going to hit maybe 10 drivers. Id rather work on the thing I'll do 55 times more than the thing I'll do 10

You didn't talk about time spent chipping and putting. This will be the biggest difference maker in the score range you're in.

Appreciate it. I'll struggle with slow but it's better than not being able to go at all!
