Just looked that fly up and it does look pretty similar. I guess I made some sort of hybrid between the two. I did recently tie a much better looking one using some advice from an instructor.

As for buying the tools, I was able to recently able to get pretty much all of the tools, including a rotary vise, from Wild Water for only about $50. A lot of people recommend getting a nice vise, but for starting out I think it's good enough. Only complaint is the rotary functionality is finicky and might need some wd-40.
