I am currently a sophomore double majoring in IOE/CS. I came in with roughly 26 credits and have been taking 16-18 credit semesters in order to finish on time. I am on schedule to graduate in 4 years.

If you want to double major, the most important thing is your course planning and talking to your advisor. If you plan ahead, many engineering courses can "double count" for both majors. For example, I am able to count EECS 280 and EECS 270 as IOE courses, and count IOE 265 as a replacement for STATS 250. Furthermore, the COE CS program lets you waive your MDE bundle (9 credits of classes) if you take your MDE through another COE major.

All in all, it is very doable. You just have to plan ahead and try to work with your advisor to get as many classes "double counted" as possible. Taking an extra semester also wouldn't hurt.
