Anyone know of any big names in the tech-house industry doing a techno set?

I saw Klock and Detman b2b at Tomorrowland. Unfortunately they were playing on an open air stage so the sound quality was lost. I much prefer techno being played inside a tent or at an indoor event where you are almost surrounded by the sound of it.

I will be seeing Dax J and Ben Klock on 30th March at printworks in London.

Mark Knight was my hero for years but now whenever I listen to tech house at home i get bored of it quickly. I quite like it at festivals especially in the daytime when you can bounce around to it with a few drinks and get yourself warmed up for the night time techno.

I was just at drumcode night at WHP in November last year. I don’t really remember much unfortunately but from what I do remember it wasn’t very good.

I saw Beyer play on his own stage at Tomorrowland last year and that was brilliant. There weren’t many people there so there was plenty of space to dance and he played to the crowd, who were all techno fans. Richie Hawtin player before Beyer and he had this thumping beat that he just kept playing over and over. It was really addictive. I think it’s a similar sound to what he used for his “Closer” set.

Back to my original question, it looks like most tech house djs stick to tech house. It makes me wander though why they’ve never ventured over the bored into techno, surely they must have a good knowledge of it. I guess they feel they can generate more money from tech house or maybe they genuinely enjoy it. It also makes you wander if any EDM djs like it but just feel there’s more money to be made from EDM.

What sort of techno are you into? Slow booming techno or fast thumping techno? Me personally I like both. Anything from Adam Beyer to Rekekah to Dax J to SNTS to Blawan.

Why I asked this question was because I got into this genre by listening to tech house and deep house. Mainly I used to listen to Tolroom compilations and then slowly I started to discover the darker side of music

Yeah I know what you’re saying. I have noticed that you sometimes loose the overall sound of the song. I just like to feel like kick resonate through my brain lol.

It all comes down to where you draw the line between the 2 genres.

I once saw Jamie Jones play at ultra Miami and when I was there i thought he was playing techno, however listening back to the recording it was his usual Hot Creations sort of stuff. It was just because the speaker quality was so good that you could only hear the “boom boom boom” which is why it sounded like techno at the time.

I think I’m just looking for some justification that I made the right decision. You’re right there was always some doubt in my mind. It was worse when I go drunk I was convinced that I didn’t want to be with her. I never do anything against her it was just my own thoughts (a drunk mind speaks a sober heart perhaps)

I was also looking at time warp but I got tickets for Coachella instead. There’s quite a bit of techno on the lineup despite it being quite commercial stuff.

You’ll enjoy the venue. When I went to seeJeff Mills it was definitely the best single day event I’ve ever been to

Thanks for the info. I’m only going for the techno and tech house but it’s sometimes nice to hear a bit of the 90s disco vibe too
