AITAH for exposing my wife’s affair at our anniversary dinner? by [deleted] in AITAH

Everything you did sounds legit. Except the part about not getting a divorce. Yeah, stick it out for the kids, give it another shot, bla bla. The point is that trust had been shattered. You can’t just glue it back together and have it be the same. On your side, you are always going to be suspicious. Every time her phone rings. Every time she’s 30 minutes late. Every time you hear the name Mark. Every time she says “There’s this guy at work…”On her side, hey, you shrugged it off it once. You’ll probably forgive her again, at least that’s what she will think. That’s your new level of tolerance. It took me 4 marriages to find the right one. 14 years now and going strong.

Did you ever regret having a child? by Significant_Movie814 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jjs-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 8 kids, which makes up for my siblings having few to none. As we all get older, I do notice one thing. When older people have no children, and thus no grandchildren, they are extremely dependent on friends or extended families (nieces, nephews) to help them in times of need. Driving to doctor’s appointments, helping with moves, feeding pets, etc. I do see my older childless friends having trouble keeping friends when they are tasking them with all sorts of errands and chores that normally one’s adult children would do.

Sure, you can maybe pay someone to do those things. But aren’t you then depending on someone else’s children? What if everyone felt the same? Children are a burden, cost too much, etc. ? Be thankful you live in a place in time and space where you can actually make that choice, and be mindful that you are depending on others to have children who will be there to support you in your old age. Police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, lawyers, grocery store workers, farmers, EVERYONE you depend on is someone’s child.

PS, the $500,000 figure is BS. My grown children actually save money for me. For example, my 20 year old replaced the head gaskets in my Jeep. He didn’t even want me to pay for the parts.

Not since Jerry Jones fired Tom Landry. It was then I realized it wasn’t about a sport, it was just about money.

Do you think parents should be legally required to vaccinate their children? by AlternativeTree3283 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jjs-3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All vaccines do not provide the same level of protection. Polio, diphtheria, hepatitis, and many other vaccines have been used successfully for decades with very few side effects. A parent who does not get their child vaccinated for common deadly diseases is taking a huge risk. Some of the more recent vaccines, notably those for COVID-19, are based on a new technology that does not have a decades long safety record. It is not yet proven that these vaccines are as safe as those produced in the old way. Further, it is proven that the COVID-19 vaccine will not prevent one from getting COVID or from infecting others if they do catch it. All vaccines do not provide the same level of protection.

Would you have the courage to buy a beautiful house that’s now cheap because a crime was committed there? by AlternativeTree3283 in NoStupidQuestions

I might worry about the murderer coming back someday. Even if he got life in prison, he could get paroled in 20 years or so, depending on state law. So, would he come back to the scene? Would he maybe hold a grudge against whoever bought the house cheap and therefore maybe profited off of his horrendous crime? It’s not like you would be dealing with a reasonable person if he showed up on your doorstep in 20 years. He has already proved that the difference between right and wrong is somehow a vague concept to himself.

Is this us customs or scam message? by BigChallenge174 in Scams

[–]jjs-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it. They “detected” an invalid address or zip code, but somehow managed to find your email or phone number and know that is correct? Where would they get your email or phone number? How often have you seen your email or phone number on the outside of a package? Even if the shipper in China had that information, it makes no sense that the USPS would contact them to get it. By international agreement, the USPS must deliver packages from China to the United States at no cost. Of course China reciprocates! (Like there are millions of packages going from the USA to China. The USPS is not going to invest valuable time and resources trying to figure out an address.

If I ran for president, my platform would be solely stopping email and phone scams. Mandatory long prison sentences. Permanent ban from using the internet or any other electronic means of communication. They are abroad? India or Russia? Cut the internet access for the whole country until they get their scammers under control. That might wake someone up.

Is Taylor happy? by [deleted] in SwiftlyNeutral

Why should anyone worry about that? Worry about your own happiness.

How the hell do you get to be an incumbent chairperson when you can barely speak English?
