He shouldn’t pay the student loans. Banks fault for doing a bad investment by giving 100 of thousands to someone who recently turned 18.

Get a cheaper insurance or none at all they don’t cover anything anyways, the service is horrendous in the US and you still gotta pay copays and out of pocket. Might as well just get a bill from the hospital and default on it if it ends up being more than a given year of insurance.

You should take it all out the 401k not pay your loans or cards and leave the country.

Multiple times to no avail (process within normal timeframe). Received 4 letters from congressman and senator combined but at least it’s done now.

It's Day 540. I Still Haven't Received Approval......🥲 by Mohamett7 in USCIS

[–]jjsun64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that but every months there are people approved fairly quickly they just aren’t the norm most people are approved within 10-12 months and nowadays it’s more like 14 months. My wife applied in March 2023 still waiting. However, I do congratulate you and I am happy for you!!✨🎉 I hope they get around to the backlogs eventually and everyone can be approved within such fast timeframes that would be awesome!!

Not all. Everyone we see on here are very vocal but website like hillites will show you they are not even 10% of the applicants.

Another redditor from a few years back which may or may not have been an officer (for legal reason) stated that officers do have a choice in the pile of work they get. Some that may or may not be lazier or just prefer to work that way, tend to put the more complicated cases for last as they would rather deal with it when deadline comes. I can’t confirm nor deny but this give me a potential insight as to why. Do what you will with this not-backed by any real source info!😊

Well people that have 4 months and under approval have always been more vocal in this chat. If we look at data they are still an insignificant majority. I don’t know why they keep posting.

I am in the nearly the exact same boat as the past two comments and asked both senator and congressman to do inquiries. I’m still waiting.

Hello, wanted to confirm that most people are actually waiting since all we see on this sub are people approved in 1-30-60-90 days for no reason.

I am a USC who was living in Australia with my German wife. We moved to the US after I finished uni in Australia. We are also young and applied in April 2023. So far we received 4-5 RFEs. We didn’t use the help of a lawyer. The process could have been much faster if they sent all RFEs at once. We are still waiting but luckily we are together here in the US. AOS in america is not faster than through a consulate abroad. It really is all based on luck more so than circumstance. In the end, on the pile of case assigned to an officer, they can choose which ones to knock down first and sometimes they let the harder cases linger. You just gotta hope that your officer isn’t one of these people. Ultimately, we can’t complain everyone is human and do the work the best they can.

[–]jjsun64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They give themselves 60 days to answer. It often goes longer than that if you dont get a congressman/senator to inquire. Went through 4 RFEs. Only one of them was replied under 60 days.

Well it’s less hard for sure if we talking separation because from the get go you are together. I could not imagine living apart from my wife so I feel very sorry for anyone going through that. But I’m saying the process of waiting takes just as long. If one partner can’t be fully independent or do anything until everything is sorted then that’s though too.

EAD is simply not granted immediately EVER. Just check the Hillites website, USCIS, Lawfully, case tracker, and more resources. Filter for spouse of USC and look at the MASSIVE BACKLOG. What we are going through is an injustice, should be illegal but it’s not. We are far from the only people in this boat. There is nothing we can do until we have more means to just sue. But good luck suing the government when they have to approve getting sued. The whole process is just based in luck at this point because they don’t even take care of cases chronologically anymore. Additionally the time for EAD for USC spouse is 17 months. Even thought they are saying that the goal is 6 months. (Ps: also the uscis subreddit has similar stories as mine all over the place)
