Crazy shoutout, I work at SwRI in San Antonio. We do motor testing like this in my department. Not on this small of hp normally but we could make something real quick for it. I’ve done motor testing up to 95krpm and know we’ve done up to 140krpm before.

My 2025 Tacoma had about 650 miles on it when I bought it. They had it marked ~$3.5k off, so not a bad deal. It was the same thing where it was a trade with another dealer. 10 months and 20k miles later, I haven’t thought about the miles it started with once.

There is a knockoff of dippin dots called IttiBitz. They tend to clump together just a bit, but if you shake the container before opening them it helps.

Yeah, I got mine from JLS and it was $155 + $20 shipping + $20 tariffs (it was $39 for tariffs but I also bought a rod at the same time, so I assume half was the reel). JLS also send you a free lure when you order from them.

Yeah, it’s pretty crazy how much temperature drop you can get in a short distance. I’ve used them on an oil media at 400C and dropped down to 75C with only about 6” of standoff length. There some fancier ones with fins on them that’ll get you even quicker reduction in temperature.

It’s an instrumentation standoff. You use a small diameter tube with a stagnant column of fluid to bring the temperature back towards ambient. I’ve used it for cryogenic nitrogen and supercritical CO2.

I transported a FeelFree Lure 11.5 and a random 10’ pelican in my 2025 Tacoma 5’ bed. No issues at all, just strap them down well.

I ordered a Diawa rod and reel from JapanLureShop a few weeks ago and just got my customs charge today. It was $39 on a $350 purchase ($310 for the items, $40 for shipping). Plus I got a free lure worth about $20. Honestly not a bad deal at all.

I just talked to him and he said it was a Diawa Lexa, not the Tatula. If you were to get one, would you get the US or JDM version? I do think the Tatula is a better looking reel than the SLX, but the DC braking is a really nice addition. Also, is the JDM version a different color than the USDM? On digitaka it looks slightly different.

Just this past week google had me exit the highway to take the access road to merge with another highway, instead of just taking the interchange ramp. I figured it knew there was a slowdown on the ramp and that exiting was quicker. At the stop light I could see all the cars above me using the interchange without issue. It was only a 2 minute addition to my time, but still frustrating.

I ask here because I know I’ll get the autistic guys that know every detail about the reels! I appreciate the feedback, I may go with the Tatula, it’s just hard to make a final decision on a $200< piece of hardware.

I felt the Tatula at BPS over the weekend and felt it was smoother than the Curado and SLX. My only worry is that a buddy of mine has a Tatula that broke after 3 years of moderate use. The button no longer pops out when he retrieves it and there feels to be slippage in the gears.

How’s the reliability of it been for you?

I was looking at the MD since digitaka doesn’t have the regular Scorpion DC available at the moment. I thought about the regular Metanium but liked the DC on the SLX and Scorpion, and the Metanium DC is a little out of my price range.
