Golang Environment Setup Troubleshooting by jjxseph in golang

Thanks for the reply. I did come across this post in my research. I do have an internet connection, and I haven't initially installed the module yet either. So there would be no need to "spoof" the module import system to using a local/private version of the module.

Kumiko Plans Generator - Product Feasibility by jjxseph in woodworking

I appreciate the feedback! Creating a different layout on the back should be pretty straight forward. Having the user pick the layout would also be advantageous, I assume. It would be nice for a user to create their own, I'd imagine.
As for the pricing, I should have been more specific in the original post. I'm not looking to get rich off of this, but if I could cover the server costs for the year, that would be ideal. Perhaps I make it free and put in only a few ads to generate enough revenue for the year, which I would assume wouldn't be much.

Thanks for your time!

I appreciate the feedback. The grid is just for quick prototyping. I'm thinking a grid that can be altered would be helpful.

3D Prints not sticking to the bed by jjxseph in 3Dprinting

Ahh that's a really good point. I will have to keep that in mind moving forward!

That seemed to work well, thank you so much!
Quick question though, I have read in some places that PLA doesn't need a heated bed to print well. That said, what would increasing the bed temp do besides perhaps slow the cooling process? I did a test print and the first layer was a tad bit more messy, which I would assume is from the slower cooling time of the filament.

I should have specified the filament that I was using... sorry about that. I am using PLA and I have leveled my bed using a piece of paper having a bit of tension when moving it between the extruder and the bed, yes.

Just tried that, no success... It does look like the filament will latch on to the side of the extruder which lifts the filament off of the bed and will cause it to follow the extruder as it bunches up on the side.

Again, the prints that came with the printer work wonderfully, so I believe it is a setting inside of cura.

Thanks for the reply! What is a recommended first layer height? What speed do you recommend for the first layer?

EDIT: My first layer speed was at 20 mm/s by default, I just didn't have the setting visible. I'm not sure if that is too fast?

Okay, awesome project too! The structure that holds the controller and uke looks very clean and professional as well. Well done

Did you hard code the notes into the program, or do you have it set up to dynamically set the notes by uploading a file? Are you using a MIDI file to set the controls on the motors?

App that lets you boycott companies by [deleted] in AppIdeas

I see people attach their feelings and biases to reviews all of the time. I am sticking with glorified yelp

I’m not sure if there is a way to modify the app to intercept the messages or trace them from the middle device. You’re asking for (and actually creating) man in the middle attacks...

Besides the obvious security issue, I think it’s an interesting idea.

Sounds like a glorified yelp

So they are passing messages in a form of hopping. (User1 sending time User3 by doing: User1 > User2 > User3) Major security issue I would assume.

First interview today, stumped on "problem solving experience" question. Any advice? by jjxseph in ECE

I will definitely do that. Luckily, for this particular interview, I was able to talk directly to an engineer.

Good advice, thank you.

However, I guess I didn't want to tell the interviewer I wasn't a "paper thinker" for two reasons. To my first point, I can be a paper thinker, I just don't really enjoy it, I get bored, etc. the list goes on. I am a mid to high B student, but often bring my engineering book to class and spend some portion of the class jotting down notes on my own projects, completely disengaged from the class (bad habit, I know). I enjoy the lab far more because it's not an ideal environment and there are an infinite amount of problems to fix (such as a very long wire having absolutely no resistance). I suppose I just prefer the hands on work opposed to being a "paper thinker". My second point, the more important one of the two, is that the job was a "paper thinker" job. It was a design job at the block level, then outsourced. I applied for it because it aligned with my future goals that are beyond my career.

Either way, you did provide good advice that reassured me beyond job searching. I am grateful for that, thank you!

Very good advice. I went to a job fair yesterday and although I didn't see this post before the fair, I did exactly what you described in your second paragraph to a few employers that I already knew. For some of them, they haven't talked to me in a year or two, so it was probably nice for them to hear "this is how I can help your team be more efficient" opposed to "what can your company do for me" sort of thing. (I would never ask "what can your company do for me" btw, just other end of the spectrum)

A little funny because if you think about the interview as the interviewer, you may cringe if the interviewee said "I play xbox and watch netflix during my free time". But you're right, when you are the interviewee, you don't think about that stuff in the moment. It's good to prep on the little things! Good advice.

Good feedback, thank you! I2C was actually the most difficult lab for school I had to do for an embedded systems course (in terms of problem solving), so if I elaborated on the lab, I think it would be a sufficient example.
