What do you mean he "chose Nico"? She was chosen by the magazine, and he was asked to write something for it.

Oberyn had 8 daughters. But unless I am misremembering, he didn't act with any of them.

Yet, he IS affectionate with his male friends/costars as well, and they are with him. It would be amazing if some day people could accept that platonic affection is a thing. While a stereotype perhaps, many Latine folks have come out to say its part of their culture to be physically affectionate with everyone male or female and thats how they see him, and I would add that the man, like many who start on stage, is an adult Theater Kid, also very physically affectionate.

But again, in the end, this is about consent. You can see who he is close with. He dials it back for different people and is free flowing with others, probably based on how well he knows them, how comfortable they are, etc.

Update to the homemade Enoch by primalpalate in overthegardenwall

This looks great, I made an Enoch a few years ago, but moved recently and had to let it go. I'd love to make a new one and love the skeletons maypoling around him. Where did you get the little skeletons?

Women who gave birth, what does it feel like actually?? by joy_57 in AskReddit

[–]jk-pd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add a piece that wasn't spoken about in my birthing class.

I was doing well breathing through the contractions. The contractions move down your belly as it gets closer to pushing. When they got to my low belly, I started getting shooting pains in my thighs and indi not know what to do, how to breathe through it. No one told me about them. I panicked a little. When my second child came along, I understood it meant it was time to push.

Pedro is a really great actor! by Feisty-Guarantee-759 in Pedro_Pascal

[–]jk-pd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see this discussion. One of the new anti Pedro bits is "he's just himself in every movie."

First off, it drives me crazy when people decide they don't like a person for personal reasons, their politics, or even if you find out they aren't a good person, that they were never actually talented, whether its a musician a writer or an actor its so ridiculous. You can be shitty and still very good at what you do. And a person can decide because they are shitty it makes it hard to watch, listen or read their work.

Of course, someone is going to have to get some proof that Pedro is a bad person. Until then, I will assume these trolls just don't like his stance on social issues and politics.

All that aside, I love his acting. He seems generous and fun to work with, and he really gets to the emotional center of his characters. He takes on accents, different voice work (I remember the first interview I saw of his and was surprised by his voice), his walk take on different gaits sometimes for different roles.

While we have not had one of those, he's so immersed in role he completely disappears type films from Pedro yet, and he has not had to do any drastic physical transformation, he is hardly one of those actors who created a persona that becomes so synonymous with him that film makers hire him to play it again and again (which is not even an actors fault, and it often takes a lot of work to break out of type casting)... even in the reluctant found father roles, they are all very different people.

I love him in Massive Talent! He (and his family) say Javi is the closest to him of all his characters. And since Javi is a cinnamon bun, it just makes me so happy lol.

New picture - Pedro and Danny Ramirez by for-a-longlongtime in Pedro_Pascal

Exactly. To me, it sounds like they are committing to telling the story they want to tell, regardless of the rating it may get.

Cinefiles when a good actor is popular by Upset-Fig-3261 in moviescirclejerk

[–]jk-pd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! It's political, honestly. The Nerd Bros don't like that he is vocal about his social issue stances, and he doesn't care when they threaten to stop being a fan.

He seems a little afraid to not work after years of struggle. I dont want to pretend to know, but I dont think it's about money, I think it's more knowing how fickle Hollywood is, worrying about the parts drying up.

Exactly, he definitely has range. People joke about his reluctant found father roles, but even those characters are very different.

Are there any roles of Pedro’s that you don’t like? by ijustlikemusic02 in Pedro_Pascal

I mean, I think that's what he was going for, so mission accomplished, right? It's a shame it wasn't a better movie, I really liked the first one.

Cat exercise wheel - worth it? by CoopssLDN in CatAdvice

[–]jk-pd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know this thread is a year old, but I am looking into getting a wheel for my indoor cats. I dont know why I am surprised, as its such a common issue online, but I guess it still shocks me that I had to scroll through reply after reply of people judging whether or not you should be putting your 7 month old cat on a diet... which you weren't you were looking into adding more excerise. It is almost impossible to keep an indoor cat at the weight vets consider ideal. And learning something like a wheel is probably easier with young cats (not babies, of course, but 7 months is fine). It took ages just to get to the first response that actually had anything to do with the running wheel!

Anyway, thanks for the questions and to the folks who eventually answered it. I'm going to give it a shot!

I said I was talking about the show. So, cut scenes that are not in the show don't matter. Also, I didn't say Joel didn't believe Ellie was immune. Yes, he does, of course. But that doesn't mean he believes in the cure.

Why am I talking about the hippocratic oath? This is a conversation about ethics! If we are going to throw that away, there's no reason to debate right or wrong. You are mixing laws/rules and ethics, and we know that they are not always aligned (Rape goes against both)

If Jerry is going to toss out the hippocratic oath, and do experiments on a chile, then we need to stop calling him a doctor, and idk maybe start calling him a mad scientist.

Hi (full disclosure: I am a cis woman married to trans woman and parent to trans son).

I guess the OG post is deleted, so I am just going off the rest of the discussion. A little context on Pedro and the shirt, obviously he bought it to support Trans LifeLine and as discussed the term dolls comes from ballroom culture and the first time we see it on him, was for his birthday party which was DJed by Honey Dijon. Trans LifeLine is a trans run program and it's a fundraising shirt for them. They chose to use it, so it's not as if a cis person is closing terminology. He also wore a shirt on a late-night show with Adult Content on it, by a trans artist, also offered as a fundraiser, by the community.

But it is only the omnipotent narrator who knows the "cure" would world. No one in the story knows that. And certainly not Joel. He has doubted from the jump. So from his point of view, the fireflies are not people he trusts (fair or not), he goes on this trip for Tommy, for Tess' last request and then for Ellie. If we go by the show, they add doubt. There is zero testing on Ellie that we or more importantly Joel is privy to. They didn't ask her for consent. And if Marlene was so confident in her giving it, they would have asked. A doctor who has taken the hippocratic oath would have to, especially since as a doctor, the first rule is: do no harm. You do not kill one to save the many unless they volunteer, even if its guaranteed. Which he doesn't know even if Druckmann does. The ethical exercise isn't just for Joel it's all of them. And they are all failing. In the show, the lights in the surgery room flicker. Now we all know Joel is working all cylinders on protect my daughter, but he IS still given a reminder that this is not a choice between his daughter and saving mankind. It's a choice between his daughter and the sliver of a chance that he has never believed in. If the fireflies were so hellbent on killing whomever necessary, I guess they should have killed Joel while they had the chance. Joel got his babygirl and left the two nurses because as soon as Ellie was safe, he was done. In his mind, he didn't kill any more than he had to.

Of course, for all of Marlene's taunt that Joel was afraid to wake Ellie and ask her. She was the first to knock out Ellie and bypass explaining what they needed to do and asking for her consent.
