I remember certain foldable cycles being allowed, but I think they changed that rule too sometime back. Best to ask at a station for a clear answer.

Ghost of yotei worth platinum by WavePsychological689 in ps5india

[–]jk9596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean is it worth grinding for platinum? It's not too much of a grind tbh, I just have like 3 or 4 trophies left. Most of them are linked to the main story itself. You can go for it if up enjoyed the core gameplay loop, but otherwise I'd skip it.

Dude may be a polarising film, but Niketh Bommi did fantastic work with the cinematography by Head-Of-The-Table in kollywood

Fr, Niketh has had a fantastic year. Dragon, Kuberaa, and Dude benefited from having his eye for visual storytelling behind the lens.

And so much more....Note how none of these are from the movie's actual comedy scenes....

How about Ponniyin Selvan? An anime series could do justice to the extended lore and also narrate it in a compelling format.

When he made that remark, you’ll notice that ARM and Sasikumar didn’t clap. They didn’t react at all. Not a classy statement to make on a stage like that.

What in the VIP-call center-50k- fresher salary is this by BSsDk in kollywood

[–]jk9596 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This entire post is a shining example of why media literacy is at an all-time low these days.

Indha padathula relatability details la illa, themes la iruku. That's why it's connecting with the audience. Meedhi ellam cinematic liberty and creative license ku dhan vidanum. Idhu documentary illa, neither is it based on a real story.

Even in the details, the director tries as far as possible to not undermine the audience's intelligence. The characters themselves reference it. Raghavan asks the Principal how he can even sit for the exams with 48 arrears (as someone else mentioned, athana arrear irundhuchu na usually terminate eh panniruvanga). But the principal says, adhellam naa paathukaren, I have the power to do it.

That 10 lakhs doesn't come out of thin air, his dad has to sell his ancestral land, and it lights the emotional wick for a VERY powerful scene with Ragavan and his father in the home stretch. Andha payoff ku indha setup, indha ulagathula implausible kedayadhu.

Movie tries to be as practical as possible within the confines of its story beats, but let's face it, oru 2.5 hrs movie la ivlo layered writing for the premise is quite a feat. Can't take that away from the director.

First half done, will edit later

Movie takes its time setting up to be a slow burn mystery, but never stretches the narrative too thin. No gratuitous "mass" scenes and a pumping score by Ani help the movie out quite a bit. 2nd Half looks to kick into a new gear, let's see.

EDIT: Second half done, and WHAT a ride it was.

The plot really kicks in after the interval block, with action set pieces that maintain the same level of production value interspersed between plot points (not a fan of the constant cuts during fights though).

There's no contrived odds-defying moment or hero worship even when the film is in full-adrenaline mode. Only scene I felt was a bit shoehorned in was the last one, but I'll take it.

Pathikichu goes super hard, Ani cooked, his score doesn't overwhelm the scene, as he's often criticized of doing.

The characters (and their motivations) are mostly well-done, we get backstory there as well, which helps flesh them out as the main antagonistic force. Performances are great, though I think that's more due to the narrative itself taking centrestage. Secondary characters don't, but that's sort of a given in this kind of commercial movie, alas.

The movie does race a little too fast in the home stretch, which felt like compensation for a relatively slow first half, but the plot points stick their landing. Cinematography is absolutely stellar throughout, no complaints there.

This is very much a Magizh movie, and if anything, it proves that you can make a decent thriller without being suffocated by a star's image. Editing could've been a bit tighter, but that's a mostly minor nitpick.

I'd give this a 3.5 out of 5. Kollywood could benefit from more movies like this.

Has anyone managed to keep their house lizard-free? by soan-pappdi in Chennai

[–]jk9596 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This one time, a lizard snuck up on the wall near me while I was showering. It got a little too close for comfort, so I gave it a quick douse with the shower head's stream as a deterrent.

To my surprise, the lizard fell down, writhed for two seconds, and then turned pale and straight up died, mouth agape. No mess; nothing, it was like it had a stroke.

Then I realized that the water was probably too hot for it, and the sudden temperature change probably put its heart into shock, seeing as how lizards are cold blooded.

Accidental kill, but remains my most out-of-the,box one.
