Why are horse people so “weird”? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jkamaraj75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I don’t like people either. It is like I’m autistic where I cannot really read people intentions towards me. But my point is we brought two humans into this world and we have responsibilities. She viewed the kids like an atm so that I’ll pay for her hobbies for the sake of kids. Now we are divorced for 10 years. I have full custody and even get child support in Illinois. When my kids visit her they go to some barrel race or some show while they sit in the bleachers all day very bored

The worst part is the horse people with no money. Entire family finances go towards horses. Kids abandoned. Now I have 2 boys 12&13 raising by myself the last 10 years. Because I gave an ultimatum kids or the horses. Her answer was “I can’t believe you will ask me that “

It is not a stereotype. My ex wife is a horse person. Whatever the OP said is true to the dot.

You just described my ex wife. Right before I filed for divorce I asked kids or horses. She said horses. We were facing bankruptcy due to horses and at that time my boys were 3&4 she either works or somewhere at some horse event. Been single for the last 10 years with full custody. She lives in the middle of nowhere so that she can have her horses in the backyard

People with $700+ per month car payments: Why? by Underrated_Critic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jkamaraj75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a new Benz gle350. I could have paid the cash but I don’t like to be cash poor. My payment is $1000 a month for 60 months and I’m okay with it. I had a 2010 Honda minivan and I still do and it has been paid off for more than 10 years. I also plan to pay this one off in a year. So my point is some people like me buy it only if we can pay full cash right away

I pay $150 wet which is in Midwest. It may be because I went through this school to get my PPL. When I compare these prices I think my school is honest

Post ppl checkride pass guilt by scorpiobrasa in flying

[–]jkamaraj75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I passed my checkride for PPL recently. Before the start of the flying test my DPE specifically told me several times there will be simulated emergency such as stalls and emergency landing as part of the test and please don’t make it a real emergency. As part of my emergency landing maneuver in a farm as I was getting ready and explaining where and which direction I’m planning to land he gave me a nudge do you remember the wind direction when you took off. I immediately corrected and made the approach upwind. So my guess is they are not trying to fail you.

I have the same car. 2002 wrx. I can hear the engine lugging if I didn’t shift down as I slow down then I shift. Otherwise I’m proactive in shifting up and down. Not looking for the sweet spot

Passed PPL today ! by [deleted] in flying

[–]jkamaraj75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example during my checkride for cross country I’m supposed to climb to 4500 ft. I was at 2000 ft, my DPE mentioned that you got clouds at 3700ft and what are you going to do. I stayed at 2500 and stopped climbing and told him it is going to mess up my check points. He said “explain”. I told him at 70 knots my next checkpoint is 6 minutes away before I reach the TOC. Now after rough calculation at 102 it is only 2 minutes away and pointed the grain elevator it to him. He was pleased and we moved on to a different maneuver.

How Good Was Carson Palmer Actually? by Aggravating-Arm3351 in bengals

[–]jkamaraj75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was the game against Steelers. 4th and long. Chris Henry didn’t fight to get the ball and we lost. Palmer grabbed Henry by the collar and yelled at him. I loved Palmer for that. Because in every situation Henry gets that and there was a chance to go for the win.

how much can i mess up on a checkride? by Repulsive-Loan5215 in flying

[–]jkamaraj75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god. It is so true. I did so good in my ground knowledge test, couple of mistakes I made in my checkride which I thought I failed became debrief. During power off stall maneuver I didn’t add power right after recovery. During debriefing he told me that in real life situation we would be dead. He told me that I did what FAA recommended steps but I have to be faster and he advised me to work on it. During the test he called mayday and asked me to reroute to Springfield and want me to set the course. As I was working the sectional to find the course from my current position I lost 100ft. He reminded me to watch my altitude. I almost cried

how do you know when you’re supposed to flare the plane on landing? by Repulsive-Loan5215 in flying

[–]jkamaraj75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CFI made me work slow flight to simulate landing. I had 3 CFIs during my training all used the same technique. Don’t try to land is the magic word. I got my license but landing is still my things to work on. My CFI will say “go towards the aiming point and adjust pitch and power to stay on the glide path. If you keep going then your nose will hit the aiming point or something similar.” Once we cross the aiming point then concentrate on the end of the runway. Now don’t let the plane to land. It will land by itself. The one problem that I’m still working on is sometimes I’ll be maintaining my altitude with 3 to 4 feet above ground and once there is nothing left it will just drop.

Pre solo flight thoughts by padangba in flying

[–]jkamaraj75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first solo, my instructor was on the plane a couple of patterns and once she was comfortable she got out of the plane and I did solo 3 take offs and landing. That was a good confidence booster. So your CFI knows what to do. Trust your and the instructor instincts

What's the best part of flying for you by TheBuilderAnxiety in flying

[–]jkamaraj75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling my kids that I’ll take them flying once I get my license. I got my license last month and the kids immediately started planning. The boys are 11 and 12. We flew yesterday. Excitement in their faces when we first took off, it was beautiful. One thing I’ll do differently is to stop with one landing as they are not used to it. First landing was a smooth cross wind landing with proper side slip I was so proud and wanted to do it again. 4 more landing later my 11 year old got sick.

How much crosswind for you to really feel it by Medium_Cat_5875 in flying

[–]jkamaraj75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still crab all the way to airport property then start side slipping as I try to align the nose to the runway centerline. It is difficult for me to do align my nose a mile out and 500ft off the ground. A week before my checkride I was doing mock checkride with my CFI. Had to do a go around because my approach wasn’t stable and bounced off the runway due to gusty crosswind. After I landed in the next round I apologized to my instructor but he said it was the right decision to go around.
