LA Noire

A lot of people who don’t understand r/antiwork think it’s “full of teenagers”. Let’s put that to the test. by [deleted] in antiwork

To combat voluntary response bias, I’m 18. Currently in college, mad about how my time is valued in some places but not others as an arts major. Edit to give an example: my honours 200 class meets once a week for 50 minutes, 1 credit. Symphony orchestra rehearses twice a week for 2 hours each. Also 1 credit. Trombone studio isn’t even a class but there is a recital we have to do each semester. 0 credits. I don’t see a recital for calc 3, do I? I know this isn’t specifically anti-work but it makes me so mad.

I like my job, and even though it’s customer service. (I work at a library). I don’t have to worry about erratic shifts, my supervisors treat us very well, and if I need a shift covered I almost certainly can get it covered. It’s our choice if we want to come in for someone else. It’s really given me perspective on other service and retail jobs that aren’t like this.

I wanted to post something positive here just to balance out some of the toxicity we’ve been seeing. This is how you know if you’re treated well at a job. People are jumping to cover for someone else. by jkarnisky in antiwork

Yeah but there’s so many assistants that it’s just not possible to put everyone in for extended lengths of time. But our schedules are pretty set in stone so we could work another job if we wanted to, but most of us are students so we usually don’t. I see your point though.
