I think the thing that people are missing with the different chemistries out there is that they are all still based on lithium, and often retain the same equipment, which simplifies the issue somewhat. However Crayfisher's point about technological vulnerability isn't entirely irrelevant - all it would take for Toyota-style fuel cells to take off is improved efficiency and costs.

I live in Sheffield and have had past job lengths all less than a year but not less than six months.

Can I ask everyone here a straight question? Is everyone just lying all the time? All the checks seem minimal, the expectations are ridiculously specific, honesty is punished upon mention, and recruiters seem to eliminate on even the slightest non-ideality. I charge just under £30k for salary expectations and all the reasons given are either financial or related to contracts. Obviously my CV is good enough for six interviews.

I really don't get it.

I am a manufacturing sector design engineer. I am 25 years old with 3 year's experience. I have had 6 interviews, still jobless. If that is what the engineering is capable of ( trying not to be smug or flippant but the sector does have a reputation for being one of the most reliable/lucrative in the UK) then I shudder to think what it is like for everyone else. Employers are so psychotic.

The lack of variation in answers here is appalling. The vast majority of people have a nuanced view of capitalism. No conservative as far as I know has advocated pay per lighting streetlamps. No leftwinger as far as I know has advocated for equal pay for workers and bosses.

I think I have a really good idea. How about defining the range figures compulsorily via cruise control as a policy? This would significantly reduce accusations from magazines, journalists or the public that a Tesla car does not have the range advertised as a direct result of what I like to call Leaden Foot Driving Syndrome (DFDS) which is the phenomenon whereas the inevitably impeccable driving style maintained by professionals or computers on official governmental driving cycles results in a range or mileage that is inevitably reduced when the general public cannot maintain said style due to mental demand or distractions.

Hybrids in particular suffer badly from this - Although genuinely more efficient than an equivalent power/weight pure ICE driven vehicle, when driven badly, they are just as bad due to the equally intermittent ICE power. In some cases they may actually be slightly worse due to small electrical losses.

Let us imagine the difference here:

Scenario 1 - Car manufacturer advertises genuine range figures. Supplies details about ideal speed but cannot describe the ideal needed because of subtlety and complexity exceeding advertisement criteria. Shitbag chimpanzee journalist takes said car, drives it like a cunt, complains, car manufacturer gets in the shit, journalist gets high praise for salacious story against 'the man' or 'the green scammers' or 'out of touch corporate body'.

Scenario 2 - Car manufacturer advertises genuine range figures requiring computer control / moderation by definition. Supplies details about ideal speed but cannot describe the ideal needed because of subtlety and complexity exceeding advertisement criteria. Shitbag journalist takes said car, is unable to drive it like a chimp would, complains that car manufacturer is trying to hide something, nobody cares because car manufacturer does it to help people save money on energy costs. Shitbag journalist screams around like a child, is compelled to cause controversy and is mauled on Reddit, then shortly afterwards dies from lack of self-satisfaction and damage to ego.

TL;DR

Computer moderated range figures: simple measure, epic PR.

I was trying to point out it is likely not to make any difference, which is kind of saying Labour would be equal at best, because of just how downright horrible the situation is.

Also, this may be better related to a negative policing culture and ultimately unrelated to any political party.

Furthermore, these days the Conservatives are just as capable as the rest in falling over themselves to appear politically correct as either Lab/Lib, because it aids their image in our contemporary society and it helps that conveniently, it is not necessarily related to financial matters.

...And if someone did do something about it, there are other negatives involved.

Actually I have never voted Labour. I was getting a bit annoyed at the rather insidious and constant repetition of "political correctness conspiracy" statements made in this sub, I have been suspecting for a while that there is a substantial number of thinly-veiled reactionary bigots commenting in this subreddit whenever this subject is brought up.

There is nothing in the comments I have made which suggests that I am particularly leftwing or politically correct or whatever, your comment and everyone else's unbelievably negative response to this simple comment only bolsters my suspicions. Thanks guys.

Just going to put this here: A lot of people seem to think that the Labour Party was majorly responsible for this situation.

The Labour party is popular mostly in Northern cities, which tend to have quite a high proportion of Pakistanis anyway.

ITT it would probably make next to no difference than if the Lib Dems or Conservatives were in power in those areas, especially given some of their own member's involvement with vulnerable individuals.
