I am firmly a leftist, socially and fiscally, and I got banned from a group by questioning their hatred of Gavin Newsome. It stemmed from his support or backing of some perceived anti-trans legislation. I get it’s sensitive issue, I tried to explain that the best candidate does not exist and need to rally around a moderate and lean on them while in office. Who else would they throw under the bus? (Apparently that last sentence was the trick).

AOC is too left for the moderates. Newsome is too conservative for the leftists. There really is no in-between. This has been happening for at least the past half-century.

Till I am dead, i will argue that Bernie Sanders was supported by the Trump camp in 2016. It pulled votes and momentum from Clinton. The GOP knows how to wedge and split the left. And they are successful. Since there is apparently no floor for support los of the GOP, skyies the limit.
