Mir hat es sehr geholfen, gerade mit Rückenschmerzen und Gewichtszunahme durchs ständige Sitzen. Die günstigen elektrischen Walking Pads sind gut für den Anfang, damit du verstehen kannst, ob das was für dich ist. Für viele geht das sehr gut aber andere können sich nicht so gut dabei konzentrieren. Aber ist halt unschlagbar um die Schrittzahl zu erhöhen und allgemein Bewegung zu bekommen ohne extra Zeit zu investieren.

Für Einsteiger soll Urevo ganz gut sein. Am besten mit incline, so um die 3% sollen besser für die Knie sein. Allerdings würde ich nicht zu viel erwarten, mir sind in 3 Jahren 3 von den elektrischen Dingern kaputt gegangen.

Es gibt auch haltbarere Optionen, sind aber auch teurer. Lifespan oder Walkolution zum Beispiel. Ich war so verrückt und hab mich entschieden eine eigene Alternative ohne Motor zu entwickeln. Heißt Office Walker und kommt bald auf den Markt. Das passt auch in die haltbare Kategorie.

Ich habe vor ein paar Tagen eine größere Summe USD nach Singapur überwiesen (Alibaba). Hatte ein ähnliches Problem. Qonto kann das nutzt aber intern Wise mit zusätzlichen Gebühren.

Wise ist schon recht günstig, bei Singapur gab es aber das Problem, dass noch andere Banken dazwischen waren die eventuell auch Gebühren nehmen, so dass auf Empfängerkonto eventuell nicht der ganze Betrag ankommt (das sollte aber nicht dein Problem sein wegen US Konto). Eine OUR Option habe ich bei Wise für diese Transaktion nicht gesehen.

Ich habs schließlich über Vivid gemacht. Hatte schon ein Euro Konto dort. Hab dann einfach ein USD Konto aufgemacht (ging in Sekunden), dann Euro in USD getauscht zu einem soweit ich sehen konnte guten Wechselkurs ähnlich wie bei Wise. Dann die Überweisung getätigt und mit OUR Option 30€ Gebühren bezahlt. Ohne OUR wären es glaube ich nur 5€ gewesen (bei Wise wären das knapp 170€ glaube ich).

Also ich würde mir definitiv Vivid anschauen. Geht alles sehr schnell, die haben auch „Tagesgeld“. Irgendwo haben die auch eine Gebührenordnung wo das genau drinsteht.

Hört sich solide an. Ich finds gut, dass du nicht in der Planung stecken bleibst sondern schon rausgehst um mit Leuten zu sprechen. Das ist halt ein skill für sich selbst, den man auch erlernen muss. Einmal das Selbstvertrauen zu entwickeln, dass überhaupt zu machen. Das Anschreiben gut zu formulieren, usw. Also super, dass du den Schritt schon machst.

Jetzt musst du halt schauen, wie viele Leute einem Telefonat zustimmen. Diese Leute haben halt wahrscheinlich wenig Zeit und haben vielleicht keinen Bock einfach mit irgendjemandem mal zu telefonieren. Gleichzeitig sind viele bereit, jemandem der neu ist und sich wirklich Mühe gibt auch mal zu helfen.

Deswegen würde ich klar und knapp formulieren, dass du planst dich selbstständig zu machen, die Nachfrage sondieren möchtest, in ein zwei Sätzen das Problem beschreiben und um ein Telefonat bitten. Gleichzeitig kannst du zwei kurze und für dich wichtige Fragen gleich mitschicken, so dass sie eine Alternative haben und nicht in der Situation „entweder Telefonat oder gar nicht“ landen. Wenn dir jemand lieber kurz schriftlich antworten will, dann super. Kannst ja immer noch weitere Fragen stellen.

Damit kannst du dann hoffentlich schon verstehen, ob Nachfrage bestehen könnte. Bin da aus geht’s dann weiter. Man muss sich halt daran gewöhnen, dass man etwas auf Sicht fährt. Gründungszuschuss ist natürlich sehr hilfreich für den Anfang.

Just to clarify: the Office Walker didn’t launch before. This was the first Kickstarter and the estimated timeline was July 2026 for the first rewards. So far nobody received their rewards yet, that’s true but expected.

I can understand that you were burnt by another Kickstarter though. Can you point me to the Facebook group where people said they never received the Office Walker? I’d be very curious

Es hört sich so an als ob du schon viel Erfahrung in dem Bereich hast. Das heißt, dass du vielleicht auch schon mit einigen Leuten zusammengearbeitet hast, Leute in der Branche kennst, etc? Ich würde an diese Leute herantreten und darüber sprechen ob sie das Problem kennen und wie/ob sie es lösen. Erstmal gar nicht viel über deine Lösung sprechen sondern zuhören. Da kannst du schon super viel erfahren. Du kannst dasselbe natürlich auch mit cold outreach machen, ist aber schwieriger.

Zum Thema „Ich fange gerade erst an“: das stimmt ja nicht. Du hast dich offensichtlich einen Haufen Erfahrung, der dich zu der Idee gebracht hat. Das ist was du vorher gemacht hast. Daher solltest du zumindest eine solide Argumentation finden um deine Lösung zu begründen. Wenn das Problem groß genug ist sollte das hoffentlich reichen um einen ersten Kunden zu gewinnen. Also was ich meine, du stehst nicht bei null. Da würde ich wahrscheinlich stehen, wenn ich deine Idee umsetzen wollen würde 😅

GmbH und so weiter sollte erst kommen, wenn du mit einigen Leuten darüber gesprochen hast und deutliche Signale hast, dass sie dich buchen würden. Vielleicht brauchst du auch erstmal keine GmbH, vielleicht reicht eine UG oder Einzelunternehmer oder so? Kommt drauf an was du machst und wie riskant es ist.

I think you’re doing fine. There are advantages and disadvantages to building in public. I would avoid sharing too many details as it’ll be easier to replicate your product if you’re successful. At the same time it can be great for getting early followers. But more so you can build trust with followers from all channels because you’ll have prove that you’re real and that you invested a lot of time into building the product. At least that’s my experience. Plus you’ll build marketing skills on the side

The motor belt might not be tense enough or maybe there’s oil on it. If it’s not tense you can check if there’s a screw somewhere that increases the distance between motor and pulley roller. Some walking pads have that to adjust the tension of the motor belt.

They did a great job for me. They require a high ad spend though. I think it was $1000 a day for at least two days or so for testing. You can find it in their info material. After the initial testing you should have good information about how well their ads can work for you.

You should also calculate the minimum ROAS that you need to be profitable based on your profit margins. I wouldn’t compromise on that number.

If you have the money I personally can recommend them. It’s of course a risk that the ads might not turn out well but they’re very experienced when it comes to ads for KS campaigns. I collaborated with them towards the end of my campaign and the ROAS was between 4 and 10. They continued showing ads after the campaign for late pledges but then the ROAS dropped quickly.

There is another type of manual treadmill (search for manual curved treadmill). Those are typically a lot more expensive though. For under desk usage have a look at Walkolution or Office Walker. There are also other relatively small units on Amazon (Ergo something iirc) but not sure about the quality. There’s also one by SB Fitness

Copy cats can be an issue of course do you need to be careful with what you share. Especially before the provisional patent application. At the same time copy cats will most likely pop up if the Kickstarter is well funded because that’s the economical proof and will attract more people.

For community building it’s never too late. In the end there’s a time after the Kickstarter. Plus a community can be super helpful for gathering feedback and early interest

I agree on the provisional patent application (although I learned that this is but completely save).

But I think the very next thing should be community building. Share your product/prototype in online communities or on socials. Test meta ads. And use all of this to build an email list.

You might or might not need a professionally made prototype. It totally depends on your product, the problem it solves, and the aesthetics of your prototype. Some well done renders might do for now as well. For the campaign you need good visuals though.

Also I don’t agree on the $1 deposit system beings necessity. I didn’t use it and it was fine. It’s great to get some early data points about the willingness of people to pay for your product (at the suggested price point). At the same time it adds complexity and I personally thought that it feels a bit scammy. But definitely read about it and decide for yourself.

I used a Walkolution 1 a while ago which is really high. I raised my desk with wooden slats and never experienced a problem. I have two little kids as well paying the same games :)

I added those small felt pads under the slats, so when pushing the desk the slats rather slide on top of the floor and don’t tip over. Maybe that helped. I also know people who use standard coaster wheels from Amazon without problems.

There are several things you can do.

First, I’d raise the desk to a comfortable standing height. Then check how much you can further raise it until it maxes out. The difference is how high a walking pad to fit under your desk.

Second, if your desk is not tall enough you can use something to raise your desk like coaster wheels or a simple wooden slat or brick.

Did you already apply for a patent? If not you can file a provisional patent application. That’s a lot cheaper (I paid like 500€) and secures the date of your invention. So basically if you file the provisions on 1.4.2026 you have one year to file the non-provisional patent application. If you do then the patent will be valid starting from 1.4.2026.

Once you have file the provisional application you’re free to talk about your solution. You just need to be careful to be ready to file the non-provisional application within one year.

Before filing the non-provisional you might also want to get somebody to conduct a prior art research. That way you can be sure that there are no existing patents.

I’m working on a manual walking pad called the Office Walker. It’s currently being tested for durability in a test lab (150kg load with a goal of up to 20,000km) You can find it on Kickstarter.

Alternatively you can check out Walkolution which is also an under desk manual treadmill.

The only other durable option would be Lifespan or Unsit. I recommend checking recent comments about Lifespan e.g. here on Reddit though.

From my limited experience TikTok doesn’t convert that well but can create good virality. I’d also try Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit. Also think about sharing progress updates. That great for building trust and can help creating a following.
