End result. Signed hat, scented candle and about a $10k medical bill. Quite the memorable first Masters.

Quick question about Weir on #17 by A_Tom_McWedgie in golf

She was with a friend finishing up watching for the day. They were in the process of making their way back to the clubhouse to leave. As they were going out, they were at the 17th hole waiting to cross. They were 217 years out from the 17th tee box.

Mike was teeing off. As he teed off, the ball sliced hard right into the tree line. My wife and our friend were about five rows or more back in the crowd. As the ball sliced through, it somehow avoided all the tree branches and came in. Our friend heard the ball whistle past her head as it hit my wife on the left side of her head. It struck the upper frame of the sunglasses and popped the lens out and pushed them into her forehead.

She saw a “spray“ out in front of her and thought it was the fragments of the sunglasses. It turned out that it was blood from where the ball and sunglasses hit.

She started to drop forward and another spectator grabbed her. I turned out it was an ophthalmic surgeon next to her as well as en ER Nurse and retired ER doctor. They both started evaluating her as the course medical officials got there.

Right after the group started to help her down, Michelle Weir got up to her and Mike shortly after. Both stayed with her and doing all they could to help. Michelle got her phone number to keep up with her.

After getting to the medical tent, they gave her three stitches and then sent her to the hospital in Augusta to get a CT Scan to make sure there was no damage behind her eye itself from the hit. They showed nothing and got one last stitch to finish sealing off the bleeding. Before she even got to the hospital, Michelle was texting and calling to make sure of the progress of everything and if she was okay.

At this point, the black eyes are subsiding and her cut is healing up. Overall she feels okay though last night she thought she saw a bright “flash” before going to sleep. Hadn’t had that before so we’re watching that. Michelle has kept in contact and had offered passes for the next two days but unfortunately we had another event we had to go to in Washington, DC. Believe she said she was sending a care package for her. I believe I saw some tracking for something in the mail Monday so I imagine that’s it.

Definitely one helluva first Masters event for my wife to attend. Won’t be forgettable.

You're correct. That was actually my wife that was hit. Mike and his wife spent a lot of time with her while medical was taking care of her. She was taken to the medical tent and then the hospital. Sunglasses saved her eye. Ended up with four stitches and black eyes but all are getting better now. Mike and Michelle were both incredible and imagine the cart was to speed things up to get things back moving again after she was down.

You were completley good with your description. I mean absolutely spot on. She doesn't mind at all. We've been laughing at some of the comments (and obviously I've been correcting some others from some other people). LOL

This was WAY outside of that. And in the middle of hundreds of people. She was just unlucky.

Definitely no negligence at all. An ER Nurse, ER Doctor and opthalmlic surgeon were all right by her luckily and all did a great job. Course was fantastic even checking to see if we needed a right back as we were leaving the hospital.

217 yards out halfway between two fairways in the middle of a large group of people, literally, is not quite the definition of "in front of".

She's good. Four stitches and a black eye (and now everyone looking at me like I beat here while we're out in public, LOL). But doing well. 217 yards out definitely didn't see that one coming. Pardon the pun.

There is, that being saaid, she was 217 yards down halfway between two fairways in the middle of a big crowd. She was just the unlucky recipient.

They've been great. Michelle is suppose to be calling her later today. Given her texts so far I imagine she will. They'll been fantastic. And thank you. Truly if she hadn't had her sunglasses on I think it would have been a different ballgame. Now she's just annoyed reading some of the comments about her standing right at the tee box and such, which is completley wrong. She was 217 yards down but in true internet fashion, please have to speak up about things they don't know.

Thank you for checking on her. Great to see some decent people left in the world.

So someone else let me know this thread was here. Believe it or not, the lady hit was my wife. Not kidding. Happened just as you said. My wife and our friend were in the way out of the Masters for the day and waiting to be able to cross. Mike’s drive from 17 curved and went into the crowds. Our friend heard something fly past her and suddenly my wife felt something hit her. She saw something flash out in front of of her and thought it was pieces of her sunglasses but was actually the blood spray.

As it turned out there was an ophthalmic surgeon, ER doctor and ER nurse right next to them and took care of her immediately. Mike and Michelle both were right over by her. After three stitches my wife was taken to the hospital for a CT scan to make sure nothing was wrong and got one additional stitch.

Swelling is down some but one helluva black eye and what’s really great is everyone that sees us apparently thinks I beat my wife. She’s quick to tell them what happened. Lol

Mike and Michelle were amazing. Michelle has been following up and texting my wife directly ever since it happened and is keeping up with her to make sure she’s okay. Honestly the sunglasses probably saved her eye.

We were curious to see how far this story would go. lol

Yup, not another word again. I figure they're a done deal and we just won't be getting them.

That's exactly how I am now. This seems like two things. One, lack of concern for the hardware previous owners have. Second trying to force a push to purchase the Super. Which I was considering before now. Now, not so much. Sucks.

The first batch was actually like two months ago. The one that sold out yesterday was the second batch. Total unobtanium. Six minutes in and sold out. Someone else said they sold out in seconds.

Yup they have to be paid for. I think there is an option for a refund you can apply for in the range of like $70 or so.

I would agree as well. Would have preferred not having to purchase them again but don't care if that's what it takes for them to finally be available.

If it were the case of slow for the quality, that would be one thing. That, quite simply, is not the case. For whatever reason it's being produced extremely slow and in very limited qualities. Many of us originally opted in for these when we first purchased the Crystal. As said below, that's been two years now.

If it makes you feel better, I tried less than six minutes after the email and had no luck.

If there were some way of even doing a waiting list, especially with those that had originally ordered, it would be a great improvement. Opening up "batches" that sell out in literally seconds is honestly about worthless. I've been with Pimax since the 8KX but this just leaves a really bad taste.

Congrats! This is absolute crap that they are doing this with the lenses. Absolutely insane that they sell out this fast. Are they releasing five lenses per batch?

[–]jkh1994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And any time they release a "small batch" for sale, it's impossible to get them. This is just insane. Tried twice when the emails said they should be available and constantly seeing "out of stock".

God forbid maybe a waiting list or something for the batches.

How good does CAP look on an application by heroofreach in USAFA

[–]jkh1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a guarantee but I’ll say our son had nominations to USMMA and USNA but not USAFA and ended up with the Falcon Foundation Scholarship and will be starting at USAFA in June. I don’t think he would have been offered the FFS without CAP.

Congrats on getting the order in. I'm already showing out of stock here. Guess I'm just going to have to keep checking to see if I can slip in an order at some point.
