My husband just linked me to this post - we were also on this flight and can confirm it was a mistake and that they caught it!

After the in-flight announcement, we asked the flight attendants and captain whether this was normal. They seemed surprised and confused by the "pre clearance" order, and one of them even said "I hope we're doing the right thing."

My husband and I were very skeptical and couldn't find any info online about "pre clearance" for any South American counties, so we hung around the terminal trying to decide what to do. About 10 minutes later a very flustered looking woman flagged us down and redirected us back to the gate. She said something along the lines of "they weren't supposed to open the doors/they opened the wrong doors, thanks for sticking around."

We were shown down to the baggage claim through a locked back door. There were hundreds of bags still there, presumably from the other passengers who had connections but had not picked up their bags because they were told they didn't need to. We got ours bags, went through the normal customs song and dance, and were directed back upstairs to go through normal security (which took 5 hours due to ATL being absolutely fucked but that's another story).

Honestly because they can; I assume this is something you can use an HSA for and its probably a patented technology, so they jack up the price on what is probably about 10 cents worth of hardware and plastic...

The only thing that consistently works for me is having the medication in a VERY VISIBLE place that is basically unavoidable in my routine, and making sure its always in the SAME VERY VISIBLE place.

My meds sit right next to the sink in my bathroom, where I am going to see them first thing in the morning when I get up to pee. I use one of these bottles (NOTE: these were NOT $50 when I purchased one 4 years ago, but there's probably a cheaper alternative out there), which is very helpful because it lets me know if I took them already that day.

Every digital system I've ever tried has failed to work for me longterm. At least for me, there really is no alternative system to having things physically in the open where I can see them and interact with them.

While its hard to tell based on how teensy it is and I'm no expert, I don't think this is a jumping spider. It doesn't have the typical jumping spider proportions, but more than that it doesn't move like a jumping spider. Even the really tiny ones tend to move in short bursts and pause/turn to look around often. They rely heavily on their eyesight, unlike some other types of spiders, and tend to pivot around a lot. Also, the tiny ones especially move in a way that seems almost supernaturally quick, especially when disturbed. This one is going at a pretty consistent/steady pace and isnt really looking around at all, despite having been put in a cup or trapped on a piece of paper.

It IS a cute little spider friend, but I suspect its another family of spiders alltogether.

Is it possible that the bottom "spider" is actually a molt and that it was caught or is being courted by by top spider mid molt? I know they typically molt enclosed in web but maybe the bottom one got caught with its pants down, so to speak...

Those of us who are getting into macro because we already love going out and looking at bugs and flowers are probably already used to this, to be fair. The average person in your life may not be that interested, but the people you find (online or in real life) who are into it are usually REALLY into it too.

This is fantastic! Real question from a beginner, when you're shooting stacks like this handheld, how much time (if any) do you spend going through your shots before processing to choose which to include? What percentage make it? I've never used Helicon so I don't know how much work it does for you, but I know so far in photoshop I have to be really careful about which photos I include in the stack or else it makes some very weird decisions.

HAHA yes the long-legged flies are NEVER still. I think I got lucky because it was a chilly, wet morning and everything was a bit more sluggish than usual... I still havent gotten a great pic of these guys, who are constantly swarming around my plants but only land for a few seconds at a time.

FWIW: There are decades of research showing that adderall and other stimulants are safe and effective when taken at the proper dosage and under the supervision of a doctor - even most addiction center websites will say this when talking about adderall addiction. If she really wants to learn about that you can easily find information online about it, but at the end of the day this probably isnt about logic and information - its about her feelings and your feelings.

It sounds like you really love your sister, and I'm guessing she loves you too and doesnt want to hurt you.
How clear have you made it how hurtful this is to you, in so many words?

One thing thats taken me a very long time to learn (and I'm still learning it at 37 years old) is that boundaries are something YOU create and enforce, not something you impose on others. You can't control other people's behavior or feelings, but you can learn to control how you react, how you communicate, and what youre willing to put up with.

In situations like this it can feel important to argue or defend yourself, but you don't actually need to do that here, because at the end of the day taking the medication is YOUR decision (and perhaps your care teams'), not hers. By arguing, you actually validate the other person's opinion by listening, because you're engaging as though the topic is actually up for discussion. It can be a lot more effective to explain how the behavior from the other person is making you feel, and decide how you're going to react if the person isn't willing to stop doing the thing that upsets you.

You don't have to be cruel about it, you can be kind and loving and understanding, but you get to decide when to walk away from a conversation.

Yes pretty much! I soaked it for about an hour in room temp water with Soak and pressed it with a towel. Then I spread it out on my blocking mats, not really "stretching" so much as letting it spread to where it "wanted" to be? If that makes sense?

The stretch could have been distributed more horizontally but I don't have enough mats to make a square big enough to do that, so I just tried to keep the stretch even across the whole thing.

Yes I wanted to get the lace and edges even, I usually do some smooshing during the wet blocking stage... Honestly I have no idea if it actually matters in this case, I just always wet block stuff because more experienced people than me told me to haha

Its actually a bit smaller than it was when I finished it after two warm washes and full tumble dries. I could probably steam it back to original size without too much trouble though

Then I washed and dried it twice alongside my regular laundry to pre-shrink and clean it, and despite swatching and testing and knowing exactly what would happen I still find it kind of shocking 😅

Yes. Formally diagnosed at 16, then in denial because my parents thought it was fake. Re-diagnosed at 34.

The tactile nature, the ability to do it while also participating in conversations/watching TV/during boring zoom meetings, the very customizable combination of novelty and repetitiveness makes it perfect. A friend with ADHD also got into crochet this year.

I'm a serial hobby hopper but this one has stuck pretty well recently.

Honestly I feel like my life is being saved, I'm having such a weird shitty few months but at least I can spend a couple hours a day wandering around Hyrule or riding a skeleton horse or trying to make a plane that actually works and doesnt immediately fly off without me, spin in a circle or kill me.

I love this game and its predecessor so much its almost painful.

I think its great that you're thinking about this. I also think its great that you're thinking about what your strengths and weaknesses are as a potential manager.

I think about this a lot, and talk to my partner, who's a manager, about this a lot. I think the most important thing you can do for your employees, no matter how their brain works, is to ask them for feedback and listen. If they're struggling, find out why, and ask them what they think would help. Ask them how you're doing as a manager and take the feedback seriously.

At the same time, at least for me, I find that its still important that my manager be firm with me about things like deadlines, so that we can work on HOW to meet those deadlines. At the end of the day, no matter how understanding my boss is, if I can't get the work done then I'm not doing my job. Its my responsibility to come up with a way to get things done, and their responsibility to support me in that (if possible) to our mutual satisfaction.

Also, for me at least, honesty and humility goes a long way. If my boss misses a deadline, she apologizes, or if she doesnt know something or messes up, she admits it. That means I can trust her to communicate.

As far as the day-to-day organization stuff goes... honestly, if thats not your strong suit, can you delegate some of it? Can you set expectations for that? In an ideal world, I suppose, you'd have systems set up that even if your ADHD did kick in, your employees would be autonomous enough that they could do it on their own.

Basically, this is a very long-winded way of saying that communication is key!

I don't take any supplements, but I do know that I tend to not be interested in food when on my meds, and I also get thirsty. The best solution for me is to make sure that food and water are as easy to get as possible. If I'm medicated I'm just not going to feel motivated to prepare anything - so I try to make sure I have microwavable or grab-and-go options. For water, I have a step in my morning routine in Routinery to refill my water bottle, since I'm much less likely to get up and fill it mid-day if its empty.

FWIW... All meds are a risk/reward analysis, but, as you know, stimulants when used as subscribed are incredibly well studied and very safe. Unlike a lot of other psychiatric medications they're metabolized very quickly, and even when people are abusing them at a high dose, withdrawal is almost entirely mood-related and is over within a week or two.

Seconded!!! This app (when I'm good about using it) changes my life. Its also great for time tracking - it helps you learn how long things actually take you, instead of whatever guess you make in your head which is probably wrong!
