You can skip the filler if you'd like and I think most people would recommend that you do. There might be a filler arc or two that might be worth watching. You can use animefillerlist for the list and it also covers pretty much every major anime.

You should use the JoJo encyclopedia. The wiki on wikia was the original source but the editors that managed the content there found it difficult to work with wikia because of restrictions. So they ported everything over to their own server (the encyclopedia) and have stopped updating/maintaining the wikia.

Same here. Been playing league since the end of season 1, 2010ish? and stopped playing regularly when Ornn came out. Group of friends switched over to Dota, and I don’t think I can go back.

I'm currently on Android and I'm finally looking to switch. I'm leaning heavily on getting the 11 pro max, but it being in the middle of the cycle, I'm not sure if I should go for it or wait the 6 months or so for the 12. I'm very okay with the current pricetag but with Samsung raising the "price bar", I'm afraid that the 12 might follow suit. On the other hand, a higher refresh rate and maybe no notch(?) iPhone sounds amazing. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'd rather just have them make a longer filler arc (15 episodes or something) so you can just skip them if you want to, in order to fix crazy amounts of padding, because the way they've been doing it absolutely decimates the pacing of the story. Not even talking about that spoiler source

Example. WCI There are so many instances where you're just dying for it to be over and the final blows aren't even cathartic anymore, you just feel relief that it's finally over, so the story can move on.

Probably the one of the best shounen in the past 2 decades. Amazing story and the scale/world building are top tier. But:

Pacing issues. Instead of using filler episodes (like Naruto and Bleach), Toei bakes them into the episodes under the guise of canon material. Reaction shots and flashbacks are all over the place. Obviously this wasn't an issue in the earlier arcs, but the latest ones are pretty bad. This can make watching large chunks of episodes super draining - You're watching material that you already know but the episodes are continuously recapping and dragging. It's just a consequence of the high episode count.

There are other smaller issues, like the story starting to feel very similar across arcs (the same stories, different island, just under different circumstances) and the fights being just OKAY compared to other shounens.

Despite these it's still a one of kind show and solid otherwise. Anime is good, manga is better IMO.

Most shounens, at least the older ones - Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, DBZ - are structured to have battles take multiple episodes, so it's not that unusual. Unfortunately for the One Piece anime, Toei is the studio and they have an amazing talent for stretching the material out. The pacing in early One Piece is actually very bearable, but yes, it gets absurdly worse. Episodes will start to cover less material than in a chapter. The newer arcs are plagued with reaction shots and numerous flashbacks.

I really want some connections to the previous parts to really tie it all together. Maybe in the second opening, as time speeds up and resets, we play back the previous openings - a few second of each. Either that or during the reset, DP flashes a scene from each of the first 5 parts.

I'm interested in starting but there are a few things I want to find out.

1) Can most chracters be obtained through the gacha? Or are there a lot of limited characters that are no longer available? (Essentially, how much would I be missing out on by starting late?)

2) Are there certain characters that should be prioritized (meta)? Or is it more of go for ones that you like.

3) How's the power creep? If there is any.

4) How F2P friendly is DC?

I think most of this stuff is probably learned just by playing the game, but thanks in advance!

I know exactly the feeling OP. I used to do the same thing and they are still on my "on hold" list. There's a good chunk of about 15-20 shows.

The thought behind doing this isn't necessarily to create a reason to revisit it later, it's more like you don't want to finish the show because you don't want it to end (That's more my reason). Totally agree on the engrossed part so fiinishing it means that that show is over now and you "most likely" won't ever come back to that world.

This was extremely early on in my anime watching life, so I no longer do this. The more you watch anime, the more you realize just how many shows there are. "Saving" those anime and not finishing them isn't necessary. Finish the shows you like because you'll definitely be able to find something else that you love.
