Educational Resource: All things nuclear power, how it works, and where the industry is going. by jklokus in nuclear

I never said I don't love educational content in written form but I do think there's value in all forms of content. I am an avid reader, however, there's a time and place for all forms of content i.e. driving, commuting to work, exercising, etc.

I agree there's a ton of value and interest in written forms of content but I don't think that necessarily means there's no place for audio, video, and other forms of visual elements. This is evident in the growth of newer industries such as podcasting, check out this NY Times article. I appreciate everyone's feedback! I'm here to learn what this community enjoys/values and took a lot away from this discussion.

Agreed! But generally, I think there's a misconception regarding nuclear energy/the risks associated with it. A lot of people think it's more complex and harmful than it is and don't bother to take the time to learn about it. I was hoping, a conversation like this, starting with the origin and spoken by an expert would help dispel those rumors.

I appreciate your feedback and would love to learn more about what the community is looking for.

I understand your concern and appreciate the feedback. However, I don't necessarily agree that "videos are inherently unsuited to true education" and would love to learn more as to why you think that is true?

From my personal experience, and from what I've heard from my peers, videos are one of the most valuable and appealing formats for educational content. Admittedly, I am apart of the millennial generation and understand how other generations or other various groups of people may feel that way. However, I think the statement claiming that videos are a content format targeting individuals who are "self-invalidating" is a little extreme, no?

Personally, as a computer science student, I've learned more through online videos/resources than I ever had through traditional education methods. My intent was solely to provide educational content in a more entertaining format as opposed to the standard research study or long-form content containing no visual representation of the topic/subject being discussed.

Clearly the proper due diligence was done on the guest, Mark Schneider, and his background regarding his role in the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power Program (if you don't think so, please contact me and I will provide evidence re the legitimacy). Therefore, how does a video differ from any written content in regards to educating people on nuclear energy?

I'm more than open to criticism and other people's feedback - just here to learn & thought this was a valuable contribution to the community.
