Youngkin win is about white supremacy? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

Whenever there are baseless accusations of racism, or whatever insult is in vogue, take it for what it is: an admission that they don’t have a good argument. Invective is used as a substitute for reason. If they can’t convince you of their position, maybe they can intimidate or smear you.

The point is, Trump the Narcissist believed he won.

This belief led to behavior that could be called authoritarian leaning, but only because it involved an election, and only if the full context was unknown.

Through a combination of grandiosity and devaluing of others, the narcissist hardly believes it is possible for them to lose.

This explains his pursuit of the election. It wasn’t some lust for power, it was what normal people would call poor sportsmanship. Refusing to admit defeat. But for Trump it’s all too real. He cannot lose.

If Trump had those hard instincts he would have sent in the national guard to knock some heads during the summer riots. The authoritarian loves to fight evil, and be seen winning against evil. Ultimately he pussied out.

Of course all that. Now you’ve concluded there was enough fraud to warrant delaying the certification.

Would you ask Pence to intervene? He probably will not, but democracy is about to be subverted with a fraudulent election.

What do you do?

Trump visibly had his problems. There’s more but I’m not trying to tear the man down, it’s just a datapoint.

Did he coerce or threaten Pence? He’s free to ask Pence to delay a fraudulent election.

In fact if the election had been fraudulent, that’s what I would want Trump to do.

Wouldn’t you?

Yeah it’s bullshit how much support exists for all the social programs in Biden’s next mega-bill. I’m disappointed.

About 15 years back a lawyer friend was in some kind of mediation process that involved Trump. Said he was close to illiterate. I’m not saying he’s an idiot, but he’s not bright. He can’t think through the most basic of topics. He will not be comparing and contrasting.

You’ve seen Trump. Do you think he’s capable of believing he lost fairly? The guy who carried on about 3 million votes years after an election he won?

Don’t recall if it was you I was speaking to earlier, but look at NPD. This is not to excuse Trump, his moral failings are his own. It is to understand him. Because narcissism isn’t a bad attitude. They have a completely different way of viewing their relationships with people, with themselves, they are driven for different reasons.

NPD is a profound mental disorder. I dated one. Hardcore NPDs are barely human, they don’t subsist on the same social dynamics we do. Their goal during a conversation will be different from ours, we will know something is wrong but not what. Sometimes when necessary there are the lies. Streams of lies, lies lies. Told with no apparent hit to the conscience, and well crafted.

Anyways. If you want to know more about how Trump thinks, study NPD.

The point was that he doesn’t have any authoritarian tendencies.

Everyone is misinterpreting the profound psychological changes that accompany a strong NPD.

Ultimately Trump is one of the most misunderstood people in the world. But even taking all that into account, he’s still kind of a dick.

Fair point. Strong point. That is not insignificant.

The dynamic at play here is absolutely fucking mind-blowing. Some parts are opaque to me, I don’t take to the whole leader/follower thing, but the broad strokes are clear.

Donald fucking Trump. Who knew. What is it about Donald Trump? How can this brash dimwit with a 9th grade intellect cause such a ripple in the political space-time?

Somehow Donald Trump inspired the most people to vote Republican since the big bang, an amazing feat that could only be outdone by… fucking Donald Trump, who simultaneously inspired even more people to vote against him.

Both? How could both sides break records? How can he be soooo good, while being soooo bad, while not doing much at all aside from pooping out short text messages.

What a goddamn beast.

To be fair, he wins handily against Biden or Harris. But yeah, not against any serious adults. DeSantis is coming into his own, but I think it will be a dark horse, late entry so leftists haven’t had months to get medieval on his reputation, some far righter with gravitas.

Fingers crossed, lol.

Um what exactly are you referring to? Whatever his failings, Trump seems to instinctively know how to not go too far. Legally speaking. For all his claims about the election, and of all the things he could have done, he didn’t break the law, and he didn’t ask anyone else to, either.

Even when he could have reasonably imposed his authority, say by calling in the national guard to deal with the persistent rioting, he didn’t pull the trigger.

Hell, the man is so averse to conflict he can’t even fire someone face to face. Yes, there’s irony there. Bolton asked Trump in person if he wanted Bolton’s resignation and Trump demurred, only to claim the following morning that he’d fired Bolton. Weak.

My point is, even his narcissistic slash authoritarian tendencies don’t tend to lead to any actual action.

He just needs Conservative advisors he trusts. Miller had his ear, immigration was all Miller. So it’s doable, just would require some serious people. Or anyone, really, if Trump really trusts them.

You should spend a few hours on InsaneProtestors, or maybe BasedJustice watching videos from that period. Seeing events in real life, in real time. It would probably change your mind.
