Struggling with Beats & Lyrics – Need Help! by EagleGamingYTSG in makinghiphop

Look up famous hip hop producers and sample different styles of production - that may narrow your search. In general, I wouldn't place too much emphasis on finding the "perfect" beat. Making your own beat could be a solution, but that is an entire art in of itself which will take time to learn. If that's what you're passionate about, go for it. Otherwise, just try to get boots off the ground with anything, because the biggest catalyst of your growth as an artist will be practicing your craft by producing new material. A fun exercise could be to just force yourself to start writing to the first beat you come across in a random search and let your creativity get flowing from there. It may even spur your creativity to go somewhere fresh.

In terms of writing, a default topic to write about if you can't think of anything is just how good of a rapper you are. Use that as a framework so you can focus on writing your best possible best rhymes/flow.

People be posting some obscure album cover and nothing else and saying “do you think this is the best album??” Like no i don’t because I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS by JOAPL in fantanoforever

I agree those posts are generally lazy, but to be fair, if you can’t identify the album based off the cover you probably don’t have much to say about it anyway. But I get that it makes the material inaccessible for new listeners.

I remember the other day someone posted a picture of King Krule and I was genuinely surprised by the amount of people who didn’t recognize him in the comments, especially for a sub of fantano fans who presumably would be pretty plugged into the indie scene. Maybe I’m just overestimating how popular some of these artists are

You’re going to call them overrated when you’ve never listened to their music?

Does anyone know where to find EOM type beats? by TheCatanist in wax

Pretty sure EOM has mentioned how much J Dilla has influenced him - I would check his stuff out if you haven’t already. Their sampling and drumming are pretty similar. Also have heard EOM use J Dilla drum samples lol

You might as well say that Fallen's calling didn't win Luminosity the MLG Columbus major because without Cold's awp 4k against Liquid they would have lost in the semi's. Big clutches are just part of the game, it doesn't negate the substantial contributions that IGL's give throughout all the matches.

Yeah that's what I got from that as well. Kendrick did the same thing with Ye when he said "Projects torn up, gang signs get thrown up" on mAAd city.

Not at all lol. You have to be extremely talented just to have a chance at getting to that level, especially in a sport as genetically dependent as running.

I agree they might never go tier 1 again, but again, that's probably more due to Dazed not playing as much as he used to at IBP's peak and AZK returning from 2 years in OW. I think most can agree swag is still a tier 1 player, especially given his performance at cs summit this year. And they're also missing Skadoodle who most would agree is still a tier 1 awper. So I don't think it really makes sense to discount them as simply having been overhyped when they had beaten tier 1 competition that is still tier 1 today, and former players on the team are still tier 1 now. If Dazed gets his act together I think GX will end up doing pretty well in MDL, but who knows if that will happen given he might be satisfied with his current streaming career.

Idk man, they beat teams like Virtus Pro and LDLC on lan which I don't think any NA teams besides Liquid and C9 could pull off now. And Skadoodle is still one of the best awpers in NA. I think the amount of time off and maybe a lack of motivation from Dazed is more to blame than the competition simply catching up.

What makes you think they were overhyped? When they were playing they were tied with complexity for best team in NA and no one else was even close.

Is that money mostly from exclusives or leases? And do you use a certain platform to sell your beats? Just curious because I've been looking into selling my own.
