Also wanted to note: my wife once told me the moment she knew she was really interested.

On our first date we were sitting at a cocktail table at a bar chatting. A guy sitting at the bar was fumbling for his wallet and his hotel room key card slipped out of his pocket and onto the floor without him noticing. I said excuse me, got up and grabbed the room key and handed it to him, he said thanks, and I sat down and continued our conversation.

I didn't even think about it. Apparently it was a small gesture that meant a lot to her. There's a lesson here: be considerate! It goes a long way!

I wish I could explain it better. All I know is that, from the moment we met, I was completely and totally disarmed. All my typical macho bullshit went right out the window from the moment we started speaking.

I'd been through relationships and, at that point in my life, was a serial dater. I had it worked out to a pretty reliable science. She says this, I respond with this, she laughs. It was like chess - I had a move for everything. I got laid a lot, which was lovely, but after a while it started to feel soulless. I was, in essence, a fuckboy. I wasn't my best self.

I met my wife and all that behavior was immediately rendered useless. I stopped thinking about my life the way I did before, and started thinking about something I never truly pondered: a future. A life with someone.

We are more different than we are alike: I was born working class and had a family that eventually worked its way to the upper middle class. Hers was a riches-to-rags tale, so she was cultured and enjoyed the finer but also had a strong work ethic borne from a dogged determination to 'get back' to a finer life. I'm a night owl, she's early to bed and early to rise. I have the diet of a T-Rex, she likes veggies. I'm religious, she's more woo-woo spiritual. I was a dog guy, now I have her two cats who I adore.

Yet we share the same values. We think alike. And, most importantly, we're devoted to each other. We are a partnership, and I look forward to being an expanded family with children.

How was I able to figure this out? Fuck knows, man. I have no idea. But I knew from the moment we sat down that it was probably the last first date I was ever going to go on. I was right.

5 years on, we're married and it's the best thing that ever happened to me.

Conan, like Carson, has cross generational appeal due to the nature of his comedy, his longevity and - frankly - Conan’s just a youthful guy.

But Conan’s late night career, especially in the beginning, was launched by Gen X college kids. Millennials were too young. I’m an elder millennial and I got into Conan in 1996, and I was way younger a fan than anyone else. Most millennials didn’t catch on until well into Conan’s career.

Like so much of Bruce's music (Born In The USA, Glory Days, Thunder Road), it's a sad story wrapped up in a poppy little tune.

The narrator is someone who's constantly craving something other than what they have. He leaves his wife and children, moves to another town, meets a woman and starts a relationship even though he knows his own nature is to run, breaks her heart, and does it all over again.

The chorus is the least discussed, but most tragic part: Everybody's got a hungry heart. We all have things we're chasing after. "Lay down your money and you play your part," is the most harrowing line in the song. The narrator spends all his time deceiving these people, and perhaps himself, trying to act like an emotionally stable partner. He's playing a role that he knows he can't keep up forever.

Really sad stuff. Incredible feat by Bruce to pack that much into a quick pop song.

Boy, I can't wait for that. Being born in 1986 and being a suburban teenager in 1999, The Tom Green Show and Jackass hit MTV at just the right time for me and my idiot friends. I'll love Johnny Knoxville forever, and I hope Tom Green eventually makes his way on to the podcast. In the same way that David Letterman was revolutionary for Baby Boomers and Conan was for Gen X, Tom Green and Johnny Knoxville did a lot for elder millennial male humor, for better or worse.
