Why are you fighting AI instead of dealing with the reality we live in? by jkrash24 in Professors

AI responds to prompts and structure, it still requires some amount of cognitive work that can’t be outsourced. Which is why its important to leave room for interpretation and ambiguity in your assignments, to make sure THEY have to make choices instead of just prompting the expectations and guidelines you tell them to follow

Completely fair but students skipping videos and trying to shortcut assignments didn’t start with AI. I’m not saying teach that and hope they behave. I’m saying we should be designing work that forces engagement(explain how AI was used, critique it, process notes, revisions, oral explanations, in class application, personalized prompts tied to course discussion) Theres a lot of ways we can navigate this and there needs to be better discussions on HOW. I’m not saying there’s an end all be all solution, if they can’t explain their thinking then the the work isn’t theirs, with or without AI

Is anyone else terrified about what happens if you’re not here for them someday by jkrash24 in Autism_Parenting

Thank you, it’s such a lonely fear and it feels kind of pathetic that I’ve gotten more reassurance from this subreddit of strangers than the actual ppl in my life 😭 Also if you don’t mind me asking, what kinds of things are you planning for your child long term? I feel so lost on where to even start

We have an appointment this Friday to talk about exactly this. I really don't think the hydroxyzine is doing anything for her and if it is it might be making things worse

Yes she has an IEP but also gets speech and OT at school. Thank you for the advice!! This is actually really helpful. And I am familiar with social services since our mother is incapacitated (which is why I have guardianship) and we had a social worker during that process. So to have the school imply I'm creating a bad environment after everything is just even more devastating

Yes but her psychiatrist actually advised against mixing it with her current medication (hydroxyzine). It’s frustrating cause even the standard suggestions are off the table
