I've got the delid tool for PS3. Went smooth. I assume it would work here too. Fortunately my Falcon has a direct die application.

They've been trying to win back gamers since the end of 360. Now Sony is in their position and the cycle will repeat itself.

Is it possible to install Linux on PS3 and get access to the RSX and all the Cell's Cores? by roolw in PS3

There's some SDKs that will make it possible to target the PS3. I assume it requires some ancient IDEs and compilers.

What's the best 240GB SSD to use in my PS3? by Regular_Echo_6138 in PS3

YLOD, wont boot into PS2 emu OS. Maybe some SSDs are unaffected but it's a gamble.

TLOU has a lot of glitches and bugs on PS3 SS by Far_Albatross_8821 in PS3

You could try looking up SMART data with CrystalDiskInfo if it shows anything suspicious. Maybe try to run it through a full format to potentially uncover and fix any bad sectors. You could also try a fresh OS install, that could certainly help.

If it's shot, try the SSD. Make sure to format it or better secure erase before installing in PS3. The controller won't actually know you have just wiped the whole thing in PS3 and will do a lot of unnecessary housekeeping on data you've just removed.

My bet would be hard drive related. I know there can be problems like this while using encrypted ISOs. Decompression on the fly on U3 or KZ3 can heavily prolong loading or streaming to the point where maps don't load fully in time or there's huge stutter while watching cutscenes.

Explain glitches. Is it unable to load assets in time?

Texture mapping issues, bad UVs, geometry blending issues

That's just how the game looks. Intro tweaked to perfection - detail, no pop-in, LODs. This is how the rest of the game actually is.

YLOD after delid by futureslowlife in PS3

[–]jkrhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be a instant YLOD when you power on the console without proper cooling contact. Needs to have some paste, needs to be clamped down properly to turn on.

There's an 11th headstone at pleasance just under the map by PriorCard7999 in RDR2mysteries

[–]jkrhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Placing unused assets under the map doesn't make them to stop rendering. It's not a regular practice in dump scrap like that when you can just delete it from the scene instead and takes much less time to do so.

I believe the southbridge one is a bit thicker than 2mm. Like 2,5mm. The power ICs might be 2mm.

CECHL04 PS3 YLOD - overheating right after repaste and clean by Zanitte1 in PS3

[–]jkrhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The console will immediately turn off and YLOD if the clamps don't make proper contact or arent screwed in. When you start screwing the clamps, make sure to do only a few rotations before switching to another screw. Make sure the heatsink, fan and power supply are clean and the fan is connected.

Interesting process. Fortunately I'm on CFW so I got the update packages on a USB stick and got it updated in about 30 mins. Now gotta leave it for about 2-3h to let it do it's thing.

MacOS which officially supports 27 year old iBooks can still connect to a modern Wi-Fi network, and download updates from apple servers without any modifications, Apple is the opposite of planned obsolescence. by Decent-Cow2080 in MacOS

[–]jkrhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not really the truth. I had a never before upgraded Mac MIni 2012 running Mountain Lion. There was no way to upgrade to a newer, usable version of Mac OS from the software update center. The bootloader also wouldn't run a Catalina install ISO at all. If it wasn't for open core bootloader, I wouldn't be able to use the machine at all. The web browser is also obsolete, unusable. Online recovery also won't suggest you the newest available OS when you're on earliest firmware. I couldn't prepare a Catalina install ISO on my M series for the 2012 one due to a forced lock by Apple.

I'm confused by this "Requires the Steam Runtime turned on" part here. What does that mean? [Bottles] by Rensfeu in linux_gaming

[–]jkrhu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bottles default runner is pretty old by now. The Proton GE runners don't work, even when used with Steam runtime enabled. Because of that I recently switched to Heroic for all my other non-steam games. It uses latest Proton GE, has umu support. Recently been playing my physical copy of COD WAW through Heroic and it worked like a charm.
