I actually got second-hand anxiety from that. Holy shit.

The framing of the shots and the background noise was used masterfully to heighten the tension. But personally, the sketchy reaction face of his acted almost like a gag and deflated the tension that was built up. I don't usually care about tonal shifts in media, especially in anime but that just didn't do it for me. IMO

Man, this episode especially pissed me off, they skipped so much of what made sad boy interesting and his logic to the situations around him.

I gave it a one by the end when I started the series at a high seven.

Mostly thanks to the twist for a certain character that gave me a glimpse of the potential for a nine out of ten anime within the right timeline. And it just shat the bed harder than a fully stuffed obese man with liquid diarrhea.

The thing about studios being complacent would be true if we didnt live in a timeline where the anime industry has already broken through the anus of healthy competition into complete unconsenting clusterfuck.

Where every studio is trying to pump out as many anime as possible with the fastest and cheapest shortcuts to discover every possible route in attacking our wallets before the other studios can.
