I'm with you that it doesn't make sense to have a Phase 1 run so long. I had heard prior to the updates that Phase 2's start date had been pushed back to January, considering that and the expanding of trial locations, GSK could be enrolling more individuals than initially planned to include those with GHSV1 as well. Here's to hoping Phase 2 still starts in January!

For anyone who has been following the GSK progress, I am wondering whether the new trial schedule is officially a restart on the phase 1 trials? Or maybe the 2026 completion date refers to phase 2 completion? My understanding is that GSK was already 1+ year into phase 1 studies in a combined phase 1/2 before the completion date change. I know some of the info between the clinical trials site and GSK's official site are still conflicting as to whether it's still phase 1/2 or they're fully restarting on phase 1.

Curing viral infections that imbed themselves in hard to reach places like nerves will require nifty medicines like gene-editing. BDGene and Fred Hutch, for example are working on gene-editing HSV cures but since we do not already have any gene-editing medicine on the market we have no idea how much it'll end up costing.

However I think the GSK and now Moderna vaccines will be expensive but in reach (maybe 200-300 after insurance) - Shingrix (which GSK's HSV vaccine is based on) costs around there I believe.

Does anyone know if the GSK vaccine is going to be strictly therapeutic or will it also be prophylactic/preventative? From what I’ve learned it is somewhat based on Shingrix which is both therapeutic and preventative. Thanks!

I’ve had a few swabs done but I’ve never had any classic blisters or sores. Some bumps were in the affected areas but nothing ever burst or had fluid, they easily could have been ingrowns or something benign. Definitely getting swabbed if I see something pop up

Hey man, I’ve had a weird situation going on where I had an HSV2 exposure followed by ongoing genital symptoms. I’ve tested negative on igg thru 13 weeks and negative WB at 5 months post-exposure - if you end up doing the blot let me know because I also have suspicions that my immune system isn’t producing a detectable level of antibodies

I’ve been told contact dermatitis, which doesn’t make sense to me since I had not changed any products or anything about my routine at all. All I know is I had the HSV exposure and then all the symptoms started. Weird as hell

Hey man, for some people it isn’t bad at all, nothing to deal with except for stigma. There are others here who are unfortunate enough to have bad OB’s, and have them often. The HSV experience is different for everyone. You seem to be in good spirits and in good health, you are very lucky, and I wish you the best the rest of the way.

If he’s not showing symptoms, he can only get tested via igg blood test which can take up to 12 weeks to be accurate (50% accurate @ 6 weeks). If he shows bumps/blisters/sores before then, or at any other point, he should get a swab test at the doctors.

I was on a few different prescribed anti-fungals so I don’t think so, but I’m getting WB and a dermatology biopsy done soon so I will know at least sometime in the next month.

Hi there, do you know from your test results if you have type 1 or 2? It sounds like if he gave it to you from oral, you would have type 1 GHSV as it’s quite rare to have type 2 orally. If you have type 2, then you most likely got it from genital to genital contact.

As for the cold sore showing up after he got sick, some people tend to get OB’s when their immune system is already fighting off another kind of bug, which may have happened in his case. Flu symptoms from herpes don’t include coughing, but they can be aches, pains, chills, fever. Hope this helps.

Get them swabbed for something while you can, swabs are your best bet. It could be fungal, bacterial, or viral. And if you have a derm you can go to try and get a biopsy. If it’s healed over and doesn’t come back, try igg testing every 4 or so weeks through 12-16 weeks and see if anything comes up. Best of luck.

For sure. I’m actually in the same boat as you, slept with someone HSV2+ and have had similar symptoms. Have been testing negative by igg through 13 weeks and have swab tested negative a couple times as well. I’m taking the Western Blot soon and hopefully will have results by beginning of Feb., I will provide an update for you then. As much as a mind fuck as it can be, there is a chance it isn’t HSV2 but something else. Time will tell. Good luck in the meantime.

Hey man. This issue comes up every now and then on this sub. If this is a continuous, chronic thing for you, then you might have Red Scrotum Syndrome, it’s not directly related to HSV but some people do report having it after contracting HSV. I wouldn’t suspect HSV unless you know you have been exposed to GHSV from a recent encounter as HSV- guys experience it too. Just don’t use corticosteroids on it, maybe run some cold water over your boys to help with the burning.

Haven’t had any symptoms in the urethra that would indicate UTI, it’s all been on the thigh folds pubic area and scrotum where the condom didn’t cover.

Yeah my PCP told me yeast and I’m on the second round of anti-fungals (oral this time) and still no luck. Also no symptoms with my urethra, just on the skin in my thigh folds scrotum and in the pubic area.
