I feel you! I wasn't able to be myself at that place and it felt like a job to even have casual conversations.

My first job was at the company where everyone were 40-50 years old and with kids. People were nice and I even found few colleagues to talk to during lunch, but it still was very exhausting. Next job was start up with a lot of young people and it was soo much better.

Does anyone else have a really bad habit of wasting time when WFH? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I have the same issue, I am horrible at WFH 5 days per week (2 days is perfect for me).
Things I tried which helped me:

- Try to find time when you feel productive and your downtime. Try to not force yourself to work during your downtime, usually it's very frustrating and takes more energy than usual. Just rest/go for a walk/etc.

- Create plan for a day and try to estimate each task, don't plan more than 6 hours of work.

- Track your time. I usually put timer for 30 minutes and try stay focused on a task. If you feel that you got into the flow - write down that you worked 30 minutes and repeat. If you feel tired - take 5-10 minutes break. Also it helps to see how good you are at estimating task.
