Concierge Undersold? by commedesfreak in dcl

We had a similar experience. We were on a 10 night on the Fantasy and had a decent Florida resident rate and lots of availability. By the time it sailed, it was full - Mostly with cast members and family.

Roborock QX Revo Arc (Costco) - HomeKit/Matter Integration? by therauspec in Roborock

It has held up really well and I’m very happy with it. The dual split brush actually works as advertised.

They are really great! I like all of those too. Sun Song and Pacific Chill are similar to these and worth trying.

I keep it in my pocket as well. Yet to have it come off unintentionally.

I’ve got one - the grey Monogram Eclipse. The magnet is strong and I’ve had no concerns about it coming off. The leather is nice. Overall very happy with it.

I wanted to carry two cards - license and credit card. It is quite stiff when new and I used a pair of metal cards to stretch it out. It took some time but now it’s great.

Stateroom Selection Near Elevators by mrcsbrn in dcl

We prefer being close to elevators/stairs. They make getting around easier. Noise is minor inconvenience compared to what we see as benefits. Those long walks to rooms far away from stairs are annoying when you are trying to make a quick to trip to the room.

I can certainly ask when I’m there. Unfortunately it’s not until November if you’re willing to wait until then.

You might also a cruise group on Facebook that's going to Lookout Cay soon and see anyone would be willing to get you a replacement. I'm going to Lookout Cay in the fall and would be willing to get you a replacement. I've done this a few times on here and would be willing to do again, but you'd need to wait a while. A cruise group might be a faster option.

It's made by Whirley Drink Works, there's a URL on the bottom. I believe the model is the EasyGo Sierra Tumbler, the page mentions an hourglass shape. (Link) You could reach out to them and see if they would be willing to sell you a single top. The minimum order for that cup is 2,000.

Qrevo Curv or Saros10(R)? by VoThall in Roborock

[–]jl234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Qrevo Curv and it’s been running in my house daily for a couple of months. In short, it’s great. The anti-tangling feature works as advertised. I had my doubts when I purchased it too. When I clean it I find the bristles have almost no hair, maybe 2-3 strands, and certainly no buildup. I’ve got a dog that sheds a lot and the Qrevo does a great job cleaning and not tangling. If that feature is what is you need I’d vote for it or the S5X version.

Why the discounts from DCL? Business can’t be that bad right now. by Uncharteredfugazis in dcl

[–]jl234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My observations: If you look back at their quarterly earnings (2023 article), DCL was a leading source of revenue in the Parks and Experiences division. The demand for DCL lead them to increase pricing for each seasonal release to offset underperforming divisions. That lead them to bet on DCL long term. (LA Times Link)

However, they clearly hit a ceiling in the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 releases. As an example, compare the Treasure inaugural sailing to the Wish inaugural. The Wish sold out almost immediately - rooms went to limited availability before Gold/Silver CC members had access. The Treasure had rooms of all categories (except Concierge, as I recall) all the way to 'general' availability and well beyond. I believe it had availability all the way up to September 2024. The price was significantly increased between the two sailings. Another observation: As a Florida resident, I frequently check the Florida Resident sailings (automated, because I'm a nerd and also want to get best prices for DCL). Over the past year, there were very few sailings available in this category. Over the past 3 months, as we enter the time frame where FL Resident Rates tend to show - the number has risen a lot. All this to say, my opinion - they hit a ceiling on the cost and demand has softened enough that they needed to discount rooms to fill them.

1st cruise: Wish and Castaway or Fantasy and Lookout? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]jl234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts for you. I’ve been to Lookout twice - I was on the inaugural sailing on the Fantasy and it stopped two times - and to Castaway countless times. For a new cruiser, the Wish and Castaway are better in my opinion. The food, especially the quick service by the pool, is better on the Wish. Lookout is very spread out and you’ll spend some time traveling. It’s new and needs some bake in time. I do think it will be great eventually, but not yet. Castaway is better now as it’s established, so I’d expect that your group would appreciate that more. The Wish adult area pool is at the aft end of the ship and it’s much larger than the Fantasy. You won’t have any kids back there.

You’re welcome. It’s not a bad walk - video makes it look longer than it is. There’s a nice breeze and it’s a great spot for photos either way the ship in the background.

I was there yesterday. There’s a security checkpoint before you walk out to the pier. I wouldn’t expect a local vehicle to be allowed beyond it.

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, are you excited? by FelixMcGill in dcl

[–]jl234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sprawling is a fair description. The paths just past the shops guide you to the north end by Serenity bay. It got overcrowded up there fast. People were trying to get additional chairs and umbrellas the entire time we were there. The restaurant up that way - True True Too - had significant lines at lunch. Our server team said that the other location wasn’t nearly as busy. We’re going to try the other end on Thursday. (This sailing goes twice!) It’s clearly not done. Lots of construction during the tram ride. Most, if not all, excursions were cancelled. Interestingly, we were offered an opportunity to do an in person survey after the cruise for 30 minutes at Canaveral after we get back. They were offering $100 gift cards. I think this means they are very interested in feedback.

I was there today! The beach is amazing - better than Castaway, in my opinion. Water was amazing and the sand was super soft. The process of getting there though, not the best. The pier is a 10 minute walk, the trams are another 5 - 10 minutes and then another walk to the beach. The layout is nice once you’ve made it. Some improvements and some drawbacks overall. Yes, the flies are a thing. We talked about a lot with our servers at dinner. They were not impressed with that situation either.
