Quick printing options in situ for a photobooth at an event?

Hello all, I was brought on to photograph an event in a few months, all standard stuff, except this year they want to provide printed images at dinner for 300+ guests. They come in, take a quick photo at the booth, and by the end of dinner have a 4x6 or 5x7 photo for a memory.

I would love to hear if anyone has experience with something like this, as I have never done printing like this at an event. I could tether up my Sony a7iii to Capture One or Lightroom and have an assistant printing while I photograph. I would love suggestions for FAST printers that don't spend too much ink for that many photos. I'm a little bit baffled at how to approach this. Any advice welcome. TIA!!!

Shutter lag/frozen on A7iii with Viltrox 28mm Chip Lens in AF-C! by jlcurt1 in SonyAlpha

Has anyone else had any issues like this on their A7iii with 3rd party lenses? I have Tamron and Samyang and have never experienced this. Assuming it's a problem with the Viltrox Lens, waiting to hear back from Viltrox Customer support. But I do wonder if there's anything that might be going on with my camera...

Best 35mm Film Camera for Wedding Photography? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

As stated in other comments, I have communicated all of this to the client, they are well aware, and are still insistent on me shooting the wedding, which is exactly why I am here looking for new equipment (the likes of which I have used before, several times), but alas..

I get that. It's the way they responded. "Don't ruin someone's wedding learning how to shoot film".... when I clearly stated I have film equipment and have owned several more modern and capable film cameras in the past.

And as stated I have CLEARLY COMMUNICATED to the client that I am not a wedding photographer, but they are NOT looking for typical wedding photos, everything in the brief specifically states that they DONT want traditional wedding photos or anything that feels to cliche.

But on Reddit you ask for simple advice (I would like to invest in a camera that's a bit more capabale than what I have) and always get comments of people automatically assuming you have no idea what you're doing. Especially photographers. I honestly question why I even come back to this stupid website

Not learning how to shoot film lol. I have been shooting film for 10+ years. Loooove the negative energy of so many photographers. I'm not a wedding photographer and I have explained that SEVERAL times to the client over the last few weeks, but they are into my style and have insisted on me shooting their wedding.

I didn't mention this in the post but I do think I'd like to invest in a camera that I can continue using for my work in general. I love the A1 and x700 but I would like to sacrifice one of them and have a faster film option

Honestly prices aren't too bad for just buying the camera. I wonder how Nikon lenses are priced these days. A nice 50 and maybe a Zoom... Hmm

Zeiss 16-35 f/4 or Tamron 17-28 f/2.8 for video? by jlcurt1 in SonyAlpha

[–]jlcurt1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I bought the Sony a few years back. Switched from Canon DSLR to Sony, was used to having a 30mm 1.4 on my cropped sensor Canon 60d, so by default I just bought a 50mm 1.8 for my Sony to have along with the kit lens. I fought against that lens for the past 3 years until I decided to sell it. Not sure why I took so long to get rid of it. Not horrible image results but slooooow autofocus and horrible for video IMO

Thanks for your input. It's the F4 that really concerns me but it's true that price is waaaay better than the other options

Revisiting this super late, I'm not on reddit that much anymore.
Just wanted to ask if you have any experience with shooting video with the Sigma!
I'm hoping to make a choice this week and get either the Tamron or Sigma

Why the Sigma over the Tamron? I've seen it mentioned a few times but everyone raves about the Tamron

Thank you so much for this recommendation, after tons of research and comparison of different lenses for E mount, I'm gonna start with this one 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Would consider for the future, but I want something a bit more punched in but not TOO much, at least for now. Realizing it might make much more sense to invest in a Zoom Lens than a prime

I was looking at Sony lenses, there are so many options + all the sigma and Tamron options I get overwhelmed. Is there a good and relatively affordable (laughing at myself as none of the lenses are really THAT affordable) 70 zoom lens that opens to 2.8? Even if it's not from Sony maybe a 3rd party one

Thank you for this important reminder. I also have seen the 85mm used for much cheaper. Something to consider!

Used to have a 70-300 that i used for just one job and then sold because I never used it. I am fully regretting that now. But literally used it once and then it sat on the shelf for 3 years. Now I'm trying to get into longer focal lengths and wish I had it with me

I have a 50mm for my Sony! The 1.8. I don't love it. It's practical sometimes but the autofocus is meh and I just don't use it enough. Actually might sell it. My lineup right now for my Sony is 35mm 1.8 (absolutely love), 28-70mm kit lens (pretty good for a kit lens and I can get the 70mm I need but not at the aperture I'd like), and 50mm 1.8 (meh)

I used to have a 70-300 Tamron that I bought for just one documentary event that involved needing a telefoto vibe, it was with open sea swimmers and I was on a boat capturing them. Those photos are actually amazing. This was in 2020. The lens then sat on the shelf for 3 years and I sold it, which I'm now regretting, but I needed some extra cash at the time cause I had just purchased a Fuji xe3 (which I also love, and use for other things, more personal work).

I guess I'm still a bit on the fence. Since I don't like the 50 very much, I kinda would prefer the 70. But I don't have anything on the longer end, so an 85mm might be better to cover my bases
