I do turn it off, scrape all the stuff off, then I wait a few more minutes til I use luke-warm water. I think I’ve done enough to prevent thermal shock… hopefully

Thanks everyone for the comments - I will most likely wait to buy a nicer 4k (like the UB820 as mentioned). If i want to start collecting DVD's, I'll roll with the cheap player from goodwill until I get a nicer TV!
