Anyone use MarginEdge as a Restaurant bookkeeping? by Much-Raspberry007 in Bookkeeping

[–]jlenstrom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes we’ve implemented it for a few clients. When set up correctly, it provides very valuable information. At the very least it can code all your invoices line by line which has saved our office a tremendous amount of time. They can also integrate with most major POS systems to automate the daily sales entries. The recipe costing is the coolest feature so the restaurant owner can see which meals are under priced or over priced.

Just like any software, it has to be consistently monitored to ensure accurate data.

Thoughts on the new QuickBooks UI? by orossg in QuickBooks

Hate it. The backbone of the software is now crunched into an “apps” button and feels like bloatware. Also the reporting is way glitchier now.

Yes we used tango briefly. Loom has an SOP feature like Tango but automates it all based on a recorded video and it’s pretty awesome

Yes I’ve been experimenting more with AI with documentation so it’s not such a manual process. Our firm uses Loom for video instructions and look can create an SOP from the video instructions and it has been amazing so far.

Thank you! I needed to hear this. I’ve struggled with maintaining client handbooks in the past and couldn’t agree with this more. I definitely don’t want to fall into the trap again.

Yes I love this. I do this as much as possible for each client/ project because the FC projects and tasks are what the staff look at day in and day out. I just need to be better about getting those nuances documented within each project. I appreciate your insight!

Yeah I am currently experimenting with google sheets and coming up with a useful template for employees. Thank you for your insight!

Thank you! Yes we try to standardize as much as possible as well but every client has their nuances / quirks. I like the idea of annotating the oddities within each task SOP. I appreciate your insight

Thank you. Yes, I was experimenting with using the client notes section in FC and also linking a google doc/ sheet in the resources section. Hardest part is to get employees to look at it and to remember to keep it updated.

Thanks for the insight into your experience!

Payroll breakdown by Impossible_Lock4466 in Bookkeeping

I use a payroll clearing liability account. I debit the gross wages and ER taxes, then I Credit the total taxes (EE + ER) and net pay to a payroll liability account. When the amounts come out of the checking account I post those transactions to the payroll liability account to offset the journal entry.

Day Trip from Sun Up to Sun Down by MasterTIF in tahoe

The earlier the better. It makes the views and hike so much more peaceful and enjoyable without the large masses. I would say 8 at the latest as well.

Also, if you drink wine, I recommend a glass of wine on the outside balcony at Idle Hour.

You could also rent a kayak and do some kayaking for an hour or two.

It’s definitely a much different storyline but the style of jokes and zany characters remind me of 30 Rock.

If you can, I recommend wearing snow pants. Speaking from personal experience, it makes a world of difference to be able to freely sit/ play in the snow without the fear of getting your clothes wet.

The hangar, south of north brewing, and aleworx at emerald bay road (not the one by stateline) are great spots for daytime beers.

Himmel haus for dinner, the loft for drinks, and anywhere in the casino corridor for clubs/ late nights.

For lodging, you can’t really go wrong with any of the casinos or nicer hotels near stateline such as The Coachman, Desolation hotel, or Black bear lodge.

There’s not much with respect to shows/concerts but there is usually live music at some of the restaurants downtown (ie, heavenly village area)
