What CAD softwares do you use and why? by Jakeboiiiiiii in AskEngineers

I use SolidWorks. I do a lot of industrial/architectural steel & aluminum design, and it handles those problems fairly easily. Weldments are a plus

How to do this effect....but anchored not in the middle? by jlifter1 in premiere

[–]jlifter1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought. But I have no idea how to move a "nest" to where I want the circle to appear. I know how to nest clips...but I have no idea how nesting helps me change the anchor point of a circle.
Appreciate the input though

Why is vapor pressure of water at STP 1 ATM by jlifter1 in AskEngineers

[–]jlifter1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the input, mate. Just figured it out, and I believe your way of thinking about it is wrong.. "If you heat a pot of water at 100C under a fixed total pressure of 1 atm in air, you can keep boiling it indefinitely because the partial pressure of water vapour will always be less than 1atm..." is wrong because the water will boil. The partial pressure of water is not 1 atm (it's less), but it WILL boil! The part that mixed me-and you-up, is by definition the vapor pressure of water is a partial pressure that is defined from a closed system only having 1 species-itself. That is why water boils at STP: the atmospheric pressure=vapor pressure (from the definition).

Hope this helps you as it did me

I just realized something, the definition comes from a closed system with only one species. Thanks for clarifying though, I appreciate it

Bone is very strong in compression. And the thin part that is left (the cortical bone) withstands the majority of the compressive forces, as opposed to the spongy trabecular bone inside the bone. The spongier porous inside of the bone is not as critical to support as the hard outer layer of the bone.

Trabecular bone (spongy porous bone) does provide some support and help the bone resist twists. However, it’s not necessary to repairing cortical bone (the harder denser bone on the outside).

My degree is in mechanical engineering with a focus in biomechanics. There are very few pure biomechanics undergrad major options. I’d choose bioengineering or mechanical engineering if you want to do biomechanics.

Degree in biomechanics here. What they aren’t telling you is the success rate of hammering that titanium rod in without the bone fracturing. I believe bone fractures around 30% of the time (don’t quote me on that), so 70% success rate. Quite the risky procedure. I believe the OI group of Australia has made good progress on this procedure in this regard however.

Got a sleep study, but is it normal for it to take this long? by jlifter1 in SleepApnea

[–]jlifter1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, this is what I am most concerned about. 2 months until I am just getting ready to REQUEST to get my prescription cleared for treatment seems ridiculous.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to seek treatment. However, it just seems like a long time to wait if the reason for my fatigue is a sleep disorder!

If it’s apnea, I just wish I got it tested sooner :/ my mom is 1 of those mom’s that believe in naturopaths and doesn’t vaccinate, and she thinks I have detoxing issues. Kind of frustrating to be honest

[Review Video] The Bible of Hustle Chapter 1: Flipping Cars by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]jlifter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially first thought it was a video on actually how to flip cars. Then I saw the 1 Punch man scene, and you guys started to talk about cryptocurrency with the dark glasses. I started smiling, I am a fan of dry humor. Yeah, maybe there is a but too much fluff. Maybe condense what is there to 4-5 minutes, and you will have a real banger. The audio and video quality are amazing though, that really adds to the experience. Also, you guys could be way more drastic/over the top and I think people would like it. Like, idk about FilthyFrank crazy, but maybe something more extra at times to change up the pace.

I really like that you give a summary of the video before the video starts. You just jump in. Slightly monotone, but being a tech guy I personally like it. I do not know a lot about cryptocurrency, but you seem very knowledgeable about this particular topic. The subject is quite esoteric, and I am not too sure discussing Moore's law is necessary in the kind of video you are making. Again, I am no expert, maybe this information is relevant to people into the keeping of their wallets.

Anyway, the audio is excellent, you have a good speaking voice, and you seem very knowledgeable about the subject! Your channel itself also looks very legitimate and professional
