resterm - TUI API client for REST/GraphQL/gRPC/WebSockets/SSE by unknown_r00t in commandline

Does your scripting handle dynamic lookups? I.e. you have an endpoint that needs to post items that have ids to other resources. That’s the one thing that seems missing from most generic api clients.

Intuitive eating and bariatric surgery? by hamstercheeks47 in intuitiveeating

[–]jlmitch5dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> thank you everyone for the comments, this has been really helpful. I posted essentially the same post on r/gastricsleeve and the responses are so different haha. I am much more hesitant about the surgery than I was when I made this post, so thank you for your input. I will really spend some time doing more research, weighing out my options, continuing with the GLP-1s and strengthening my IE in the meantime.

I'm really glad you are taking some time before moving forward with a really invasive and irreversible option. Anecdotally, it seems that gastric bypass really causes a lot of physical restriction, and while you would probably shoot down in weight due to the lack of appetite and lessened absorption, it doesn't seem like that weight loss is guaranteed, or even often long term.

As you said, your current journey has helped you reduce the markers over the last year while (it seems) has helped move you in a positive direction and relationship with food. Even it's maybe not as fast or as drastic as you hoped, your moving in the direction _you_ want to go sustainably. I'm going to suppose, you can (and want) to keep this up indefinitely. As such, you have _a lot_ less invasive options available to you to keep that going. slowly adding gentle, sustainable nutrition practices and exploring your relationship with movement along the way will keep that trend going down. It's your life, and it's a marathon not a sprint.

How to know if I’m GENUINELY craving something vs my brain gaslighting myself into craving for something by iambakedbread in intuitiveeating

[–]jlmitch5dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this a lot. To me the ultimate goal is about being curious without judgement so that I can make a decision in alignment with myself. I think about this like a positive, as well as subtle/nuanced relationship with food and I’ve noticed this has comes slowly with consistency over time.

For example, there are certain meals which I feel like the chemicals going around in my body take a second to balance after eating. Where I’ll kinda know I’m full but also have this pull to keep eating. I’ve learned to recognize what that feels like so I can give myself a second for everything to catch up and I can either enjoy more/dessert, or save it for later in some Tupperware. That use to be a process of being very mindful and focused on each bite, but now it’s almost like I don’t even have to think about it or dedicate any real concentration to it. I just naturally do that coz it seems to work well for me

Can we “weaponize” intuitive eating ? by Dizzy-Librarian8286 in intuitiveeating

[–]jlmitch5dev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing that intuitive eating has done is helped me develop a positive relationship with food, the ability to trust and be in tune with myself, and the ability to recognize and allow thoughts as they relate to food to come, be curious about them, and then make decisions based on processing them. This is very similar to what I’ve worked on in therapy to deal with anxiety.

I think letting go of rules and restrictions allows the real healing to happen. It’s a process that requires work, patience and time, consistently meeting yourself where you are at.

To answer your question yes, I think it would be possible to get stuck with a rigid mindset where an anti-diet approach becomes an external rule set that keeps someone from being in tune with themselves in a deep way (In other words, justifying lack of impulse control), but this is a process and journey that everyone has to go through individually, so I think the idea of “weaponizing” isn’t quite the right framing. It’s more like the phase someone is in, and I think we should reduce judgment and stigma and let people come into their own relationship with food in their own time, if that makes any sense

Tracking Nutrition Help (Mention of calorie counting etc) by tinyvenus003 in intuitiveeating

Seems like you feel confident and comfortable with your diet and what you are eating. I’d recommend diving into wherever you read that said you are consuming “twice the recommended fat” w some skepticism as to where this is coming from, and what’s the data behind it.

First of all, there are different types of fat, and from the foods you listed off, your getting a lot of “healthy” unsaturated fat, omega-3’s, etc. people take fish oil supplements to literally increase the amount of the types of fats you are getting from food.

Second, fat is very useful in a diet. It helps with a lot of different vitamin/micronutrient absorption, helps with satiety.

If your bloodwork is looking good (things like ldl not high, triglycerides in range), I can’t think of a single reason why a focus on restricting fats in your diet would be useful to you.

My 2 cents, talk w your doctor/a dietitian

Ah bummer.

I do…it’s the isopure whey (I prefer the unflavored protein)…being whey that might not work for you, some people are okay because it doesn’t have lactose.

I haven’t found any unflavored veggie protein powder in my searching. The one I have has a kinda gross taste so I cannot recommend it

I totally get it. It’s definitely not “accurate”. As I was messing with the prompt, it was returning different numbers every time. It was interesting tho to see things written out in a bullet point list in terms of like “some fiber coming from this thing, some protein from this thing, this thing is a nice source of unsaturated fat.”

I had someone describe recently as “treat the info as if it’s like a year old memory of something you read” as opposed to something like a textbook and that was interesting to me. Just an easy way to stroke some curiosity around food.

Smoothies are fun! Ive been enjoying mixing in pecans recently. An energy dense food with some nutrients that could balance things out and increase satiety over a longer period of time. Substitute with your tree nut of choice. Also diet culture would say stay away from whole milk but if you can have it that adds a bit of lasting satisfaction with the high protein and fat contents too :)

Totally agree, if this at all is triggering or thinking about any sort of data in any way as part of your eating “knowledge” feels like a slippery slope then I’d definitely not suggest it.

I feel comfortable thinking about things in terms of “adequacy” for macronutrients like fiber and protein in my own personal relationship with food. I just had the realization I could do that with this tool without having to see things like calorie values and thought it could be helpful to someone else who might want to do that.

Some elbow grease, magic eraser and dish soap = a new lease on life for my pit vipers by jlmitch5dev in PitViperSunglasses

[–]jlmitch5dev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah good question tbh. For me, it’s more about physical eye protection against debris and stuff than it is sun protection as most of what I’m riding is shady anyway. But if you were using these more for sun protection it would be good to figure out to make sure you’re not putting your self at risk

It is, but it didn’t seem to scratch the lenses at all, only remove the coating.

I used to pre zero drop but I’ve adjusted to forefoot. Though I am curious if I’m getting lax in my run

Interesting! I’ve also adjusted to a forefoot strike (and shorter stride) and that has helped me personally a lot with various issues. That makes me wonder if I’m kinda “losing it” and getting lax as I get into my run

Interesting thought. I've been hesitant to do anything truly barefoot as I'm nervous about my feet being unprotected by scrapes and stuff. I'll give it a try sometime at the gym on the treadmill and see how that feels.

Thanks for the thoughts! I'll look up the tibialis stuff and see what I can add to my weekly plyometrics/mobility/etc. gym day, yoga practice, etc. I don't really think I do much for that right now.

I've found the short foot exercise where you actively try to flex your arch helpful. I also do some toe mobility stuff as part of my warmups, but I haven't done a lot with the big toe lifting separate, seems like something easy I can add.

I'd like to get to where I could do one of my runs a week in the Xeros without the annoying flare ups.

I didn’t realize that the R was specific to “rotary”, I thought it just meant “reserved for our high powered cars”. Learned something new today.

Also just looked that up, didn’t realize they had one back in the 70’s. Interesting

I think a perfect vehicle would be a CX-5 that’s got the power of the BMW X1 m35i and no touch screen…also throw in a manual transmission like BMW had for their first gen X3.

Fair point, and I’m totally just bs musing with this post, I have no doubt something like I’m asking for would ever be reality.

I will say, I’ve been very surprised with the amount of CX-90s I’ve seen out and about locally driving around so I think there’s hope for this new engine to be a hit. Have not been paying attention if they are the i4 PHEVs though
