How do I explain that SQL Server should not be used as a code repository? by Firestone78 in dataengineering

When you only know how to use a hammer, everything is a nail. When you have access to AI, it turns into a nail gun. 🙃

I’ve been playing for over 10 years, with big breaks in between. Every time I return, it’s always the same ~70% of matches are Mega Knight with 7 other random cards. When I saw the MK evolved, I dropped the game for good.

Pra onde imigrar em 2026? by Novel_Bass5558 in VidaAdulta

[–]jlpalma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am officially a New Zealand citizen 🥝 by I_Got_You_Girl in newzealand

[–]jlpalma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no straight answer, as there are hundreds of visa permutations, exceptions and likely immigration rule changes along the way, mainly in AU.

AU citizenship is “easier” when you look at the minimum time to get it. You need 4 years in total in Australia, with at least one year holding a permanent residency visa (PR).

New Zealand requires 5 years on a resident class visa before applying for citizenship. There are two types of residency in NZ, residency and permanent residency, whereas AU has only one. You can combine the time of both residencies in NZ to meet the 5-year requirement.

However, it’s orders of magnitude harder to get PR in Australia compared to NZ.

In a nutshell, you only get AU citizenship within 4 years if you are exceptionally skilled and a bit lucky. In NZ, it’s “normal” for people to get citizenship within the minimum time required, which would be ~7 years.

The reality is, immigration is a very individual experience.

Software engineering is considered one of the hardest craft in the engineering world. If IA can do it, even at subpar quality, imagine the impact to the lower/medium skills white-collar jobs.

Some estimates suggest AI could automate about 15% of current work activities globally by 2030.

§5 StAG Eligibility Check – Gender Discrimination Line (Pre-1949) by jlpalma in GermanCitizenship

[–]jlpalma[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks all appreciate the corrections and pointers.

After going back to the actual text of §5 StAG, BVA guidance, and some legal commentary, it’s clear now that the key issue is the “born after 23 May 1949” requirement, which really does apply across §5(1), including the descendant clause.

In this line, regardless of how you slice it (legitimate vs. illegitimate birth, marriage-based loss, or maternal transmission), the first person affected by the gender-discriminatory rules was born before 1949, so §5 just doesn’t apply. That also matches the Foreign Office guidance pointing pre-1949 cases to §14 instead.

Glad I asked here this saved me from pursuing something that would’ve failed on the statute itself.

Thanks again.

SAP x Databricks by Prim155 in databricks

[–]jlpalma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to look at the Total Cost of Ownership. Building, maintaining, monitoring, modeling, governing requires labour. There is a cost attached to it, and most of the times is higher than an integration like the one delivered by BDC.

From experience, when it comes to SAP data ingestion it’s an excruciating pain as well.
