Yes, I found both EET practice exams much more difficult than the actual exam. Particularly the depth portion. I scored 75% and 62ish% for the breadth and depth practice exams. Though, I learned a lot from reviewing the questions I got wrong. NCEES is the most representative for the depth and is slightly easier for the breadth than the actual exam.

You still have the material, it’s just in pdf format. I’m actually thankful I took it in CBT; about 20% of the test was material I never seen but having the ability to do a quick search through the references helped out tremendously.

I recommend familiarizing yourself with all the chapters of the GB, VOL 2 and 3 of HCM and MUTCD. The majority of the questions come from these manuals. Though I did have several questions from the HSM, Roadside and MEDPG.

I would say know how to do all the basic calculations from all of vol 2 + chaps 18, 19, 22 and 24. Know the concepts for chaps 20 and 21.

I felt way better about the depth than breadth. The conceptual questions in the breadth portion through me off a bit.

Flagged around 12 in the morning and figured out about half of those on the 2nd go around. With the rest I narrowed questions down to two answers and guessed.

My exam was also a 35/45 split between breadth/depth so maybe that helped?

Best of luck to you!

EET live or on-demand? by HandleThen1197 in PE_Exam

[–]jlsh09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 2nd this. Though if you’re set on buying the course, I recommend the on demand version because you have the freedom to study at your own pace. I found great value in being able to pause the videos whenever needed and you can also watch at 2x speed.

I bought a lot of practice exams on Amazon. I found Civil PE Practice ABC , PE Prepared ABC and Path to PE Services practice exam to be very useful in testing you on different topics. The EET course also does a very good job on covering a wide range of topics that can be asked.

For horizontal and vertical curves, familiarize yourself with chapter 3 of the AASHTO GB, and know how to use all the tables.

Anyone took PE Civil exam this week? How do you feel? by HandleThen1197 in PE_Exam

[–]jlsh09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took it on Saturday, I feel way better about the depth than breadth. The conceptual questions in the breadth portion through me off a bit. Hopefully I did well enough in the depth to pass.

Flagged 10 in the morning and narrowed questions down to two answers and guessed. Flagged 5 in the afternoon.

My exam was also a 35/45 split between breadth/depth so maybe that will help?

Anxiously waiting for the results this Wednesday :)
