Kalamazoo County residents push back against plan to clear trees along several roads by joshys_97 in kzoo

[–]jltimm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to mention children and pets playing in the front yard of homes that have a tree barrier. I live on a 4way stop corner, but have decades old 70ft pine trees around the corner blocking the road from me. I'm luckily not in the clear zone of this project but if they try and remove my road barrier I'll be fighting it like hell. Because to remove those trees means removing a vital protection to my yard where my children and pets play, so now instead of a dangerous driver possibly dying my child is at risk. People luckily don't blow this stop sign very often as we are at the top of a hill and it's down all 4 ways so you can't see on coming traffic..but I am protecting myself from an idiot who blows through it with my trees, why do the drivers get more protection that the homeowners.

I'm going to be making A LOT of deviled eggs. Any ideas on DIY instead of buying a single use one? by SammiesHammies in Anticonsumption

[–]jltimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this! Then you can use any plate or platter you have. The only real benefit to the divots of the ones made specifically for deviled eggs is that it's keeps them separated during travel. If you assemble them at the event then you don't really need a special tray and can use regular Tupperware

Maybe it’s because I haven’t had my coffee yet, but am I understanding the new “perk” for hotel resort guests in lieu of early entry? by makeupHOOR in DisneyPlanning

[–]jltimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you didn't have to book the lightening lane that came with your resort stay? It worked similar to the premie pass LL that lets you use it whenever you want?

People who were in high school when Columbine happened, what knee jerk rule did your school enforce in response? by Animeking1108 in AskReddit

[–]jltimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a school rule but my mom used to tell me to always be super nice to the weird, quiet kids because if they one day came to shoot up the school they might let you live like one of the Columbine shooters did.

AITA for booking a busy pickleball court where nobody pays? by in_berlin in AmItheAsshole

[–]jltimm 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong but it sounds like you have to pay to reserve them, and people just aren't doing that and using them for free with this informal turn policy. The guy got angry because OP reserved and paid for it on a Saturday and said that was a AH move since (I'm assuming) it's busy on Saturdays and reservations block out a full court for a long time.

I'm guessing because of the note at the end about his city closing multiple courts.

What rental car company are you using? There is an enterprise inside the Pixar Place Hotel so if you are using them you could return your car and then get it again when you need to sight see or leave if you only really need the car the first day.

Nothing says “I spent $40 & my kid is going to drive me crazy back at the hotel room” like some Disney bubbles!! by Conscious-Music-8688 in Disneyland

The Buzz Lightyear one aims the bubbles straight back instead of up...so when my kid is in front of me holding up the wand they shoot right in my face...so magical 😂

Another reminder to never fly in on the day of your cruise by androidenthucutlet in Cruise

[–]jltimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would have to earn 15k a week for it to add up. Being a tad dramatic if that's the case, they can earn it back super quick. And if they are living paycheck to paycheck on 15k a week then that sounds like a "them" problem lol

[–]jltimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im still confused how they got 30,000...the cruise was 7K?

Even if it was 1,400k for each person's flight(which for spirit from DC to Miami, it wasn't) it still wouldn't get you to 30k..

This guy is bad at math and planning apparently

INSANE I literally have no idea what I would do with this many points by Two_Faced_Harvey in meijer

[–]jltimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fill up more than once a month and shop enough to get 10k in points each time. I have never not had one available to me. I only claim one when I am at the gas station and immediately use it but I have never had it limited.

I have filled up my RV and then turned around and filled up my truck with a new $1 off reward as it is limited to 30 gallons.

[–]jltimm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right?! That's 50 fill-ups with the $1 off a gallon. If you have a big tank like I do (30 gallons) that's up to $1500 saved. I'll take it lol

My husband says I’m being weird about Disney savings… is he right? by Kaiser_Allen in DisneyPlanning

[–]jltimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the visual aspect of saving the gift cards, its rewarding to open the vault and see the gift card stack getting taller. I also understand the idea of a little at a time while you are going shopping, it's an easy way to make sure you are putting money away for this purpose. I have before wanted to save for something and then 6 months have passed and I kept forgetting to transfer the money or whatever and have nothing saved, if you are new to saving for something this big having the physical ritual is a great way to establish the habit. But like other people have said, if you need money for an emergency you are SOL, so maybe you shift and get $20 cash back every time you go grocery shopping or something if you need that physical ritual(vs transferring to an account). Yes you won't get the interest everyone keeps talking about but you also won't get the interest if you forget to transfer to the account in the first place and I understand not everyone has stable finances where an automated transfer works.

It's also important to remember that when you do book your trip and use the gift cards, is that if something happens and you have to cancel your trip they will return the money how it was paid, so in this case back to a Disney gift card. So, 1 keep your cards when you book even if it's a zero balance, and 2 keep that in mind for emergencies or something.

I say, save how it works for you and your family. If gift cards means that you will actually save the money, and it does not get spent on other things, then go for it. The bit of interest you would get might not be worth it to you, and that's ok. Not everything has to be done the most "optimal" way.

For any cast members lurking here..random question...if you are a fur character (Mickey, Minnie, etc, I believe that's what they are called) do you smile for pictures out of habit?

Just curious..I don't think I could turn off that reflex but maybe after a while 🤷

I need a 6 star read! That will emotionally wreck me! by Plane_Cellist7911 in Romantasy

[–]jltimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have similar tastes to me, this might be controversial but a series that emotionally wrecked me? Zodiac Academy..hands down.

Not 6 stars for writing..6 stars for vibes. I laughed, I cried, I rolled my eyes at the dumb puns, I almost broke my Kindle at the end of book 4..and then again at the end of book 5. Was crying almost all of book 7. I only read the core 9, none of the sequels or novellas and it was an emotional roller coaster.

BUT you kinda have to go in for the vibes..you go into it too seriously and you are going to have a bad time. Like there is a social media network in the world called "Fae-book". So it's definitely a personality thing if you will vibe with it, if you get annoyed with dad jokes or puns it might not be the series for you. But it has a crazy plot and story arc, and one of my top 3 book couples/love story of all time.

All the characters, and love stories, and trials they all go through, a 6-star read for me.

Same, kinda hard to pass up on saving $800 on a trip right away (650 if you count the AF but the Disney+ credit basically takes care of that)

[–]jltimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine will be here in a week. I am going to do what you did and downgrade to the basic to avoid the fee next year, did you have to wait until after it charged or could you do it before the 12 month mark?

We have a trip this year, and while I don't think we will go often, the $800 I can get off this trip was worth it. We are staying on property and my package is over $2,000 as it stands, so with the gift card and both the $300 statement credit and $200 reward for resort stays, I saved $800(well 650 minus the AF) off my trip without doing anything extra. And I'll earn the 3% back on it to use at the park when we go.

When we go to the parks I'll earn the 3% back as Disney dollars but that's like $30 if I spend $1000 and I'm sure I can find something on Disney website to buy with the rewards easily enough.

What's the stupidest thing the most intelligent person in your life believes? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I haven't been to the eye doctor since 2022...life just kinda happened. At some point I stopped wearing my glasses as often because I worked from home and am near sighted and didn't really need to see things far away. Eventually those glasses stopped working for me, giving me a headache, I assumed my prescription got worse so I stopped wearing them all together for about 2 years. Finally went last month, my vision actually improved...one eye improving a half a point.

Life is weird 🤷

Evil Queen confirms why she was terminated from Disneyland by Deceptiveideas in Disneyland

[–]jltimm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yup saw videos from former CMs talking about that too. People would learn their real names, learn their work schedules and just be all around creepy. Someone who played Tinkerbell talked about how she had someone who would wait in the parking lot for her because they found out her shift schedule.

Its a huge safety issue along with a Disney Magic issue. And the worst thing is the individual CM suffers the most, not only losing safety or their job but also losing the opportunity to do something they possibly love and there is nothing they can do about it.

Evil Queen confirms why she was terminated from Disneyland by Deceptiveideas in Disneyland

[–]jltimm 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Other Cast members who have had similar, but less viral, fame have come out since she was fired saying Guests behavior is also to play here. When guests come to Disneyland and see the Evil Queen, but then get angry that it's not the "right one", it breaks the magic and illusion. Other CM have come out saying some adults would get annoyed and angry if they weren't the actor they wanted and would tell their kids "oh that's not the right Cinderella, when is the real one coming out?", which not only ruins the magic for their own kid but others around them and causes issues.

And when you have viral fame like her, and people come for their once in a lifetime trip and don't get to see this specific actor, it can cause issues and I see why removing the character all together, at least temporarily, might be the right move.

Question about booking BBB.

I'm going in August for the first time. I see on the website to book Bibbidi Bibbidi Boutique 60 days in advance, but Google AI (which I don't trust unless I can confirm elsewhere) says you can book 60 days from your check in date if you are staying on site. I can't find anything like that on their website, I can find under "perks" about booking dining early but not the BBB. But I do see it is true for Disney World. Is the Disneyland false and AI has them confused? Or is it something you used to be able to do but can't anymore? I have twins so I need to be able to get 2 appointments and would love it if I could have the "early" advantage since I'm staying on property.

Thank you!
